My company is working on mine. I'm hoping to be out of here in 6 months. If you are an engineer Australia literally will blow you to get you over there, it's awesome. I'm using my company to expedite it and then I don't know if I'm ever coming back hahaha.

This might be true, I just don't know though. I know unemployment is high and inflation I looming, but we're not currently much worse off than we were in the early 70s. I think that odds are, we will slog along in this manner, make very slow and hard-fought gains in GDP and employment for the next 5-10 years. Then things will be "OK" again. Not "1998 great" but maybe "2005 OK". Just my $0.02.

That's my plan if my visa runs up. I also got a buddy up there who says the southern accent for the girls down there is like the Australian accent for girls down here so I been practicing my twang hahaha.

Personally, I don't ever want to retire. I really think I would get bored after a few months. But I want to have a job where at a certain age I can just be the name of the company and come and go as I please for the most part, leaving the managing and all that to others.

Yup. Serious question: How would one go about opening a bank savings account in Canada? How about buying stocks and mutual funds in Canada?

Costa or Belize would be at the top of my list if I were to go that route. Went to Belize a couple years ago. Lots of Americans there, most started little buisnesses and are making bank.

Go to canada and open an account, and then transfer your money electronically, or write a check.

Most of the major trading platforms and some brokerage houses will allow you to trade on foreign exchanges. I also mean real estate in foreign countries, safety deposit boxes with multiple currencies, gold, silver, etc. If you can think of a way to further diversify your base, you will be better able to weather whatever storm hits.

Try starting a savings account! If you save for thirty years you will not have a problem. Quit pissing your money away.
