Why isn't poutine more popular in the states?

Spin off of other thread.
I think it's damn fine fat boy food, but I think I've only seen it on a handful of menus. Saw it on a lot more menus in NYC I guess because they're proximity to their poutine loving neighbors.
Is it that most would rather dip than have it smothered?
I had the pulled pork poutine w/ curd cheese, and pepper jelly at Mannings and it got a little too goopy and just didn't work for me.
Any other places in the area to get good poutine?
So, if this thread is like most of mine...anchors away

Isn't that the same thing as gravy cheese fries?

I've had fries and gravy when having steak and kidney pie (fries on side). It's possibly one of the best things I've eaten.
Never had cheese curds before.

Basically Cheese curds and gravy on top American fries.
Damn near every menu in certain areas of Canada has some version on their menu. Hell I even think I saw a poutine vending machine.

I guess someone was watching Modern Family last night

I think part of it has to do with the fact that the cheese curds must be fresh. "Made that morning" fresh. Most places don't have ready access to the curd.

TRUTH! KFC, Taco Bell, etc. It's like a number 17 combo or something.
It's damn tasty though. This is a legit thread

Correct. They should squeak when you bite into them.
