I would love to see UM, MSU, and Purdue to tell ND to go to hell and not schedule any football games with them.
But that won't happen since Purdue and MSU actually want to play ND every year and they will most likely agree to a rotation in scheduling. Michigan is the one school who could tell ND to go away and not lose as much prestige.

Let's look at this rationally. Notre Dame has to play 5 ACC teams out of 12 games each year under this deal. Note that no more than three games out of 12 every other season will be ACC teams visiting South Bend (NBC pays for ND home games).
One of the ACC opponents is going to be Boston College every year (which the Irish already play yearly). Pitt and Syracuse are joining the ACC and are perfect teams for ND to play on a regular basis to reach the East Coast fan base. Miami and FSU have played ND recently (the 'Canes will this year) and will rotate into the Irish schedule nicely. Georgia Tech-Notre Dame bad for ratings? Nope. Clemson-Notre Dame bad for ratings? Nope. Notre Dame is completing a home-and-home with Wake Forest this year, by the way.
Perhaps Notre Dame plays Maryland in Baltimore? Good for both schools and good enough for ratings for non-NBC. Notre Dame versus VA Tech in D.C. would be bad, too? The return visits on NBC would do just fine in the ratings.
NBC/Comcast will pony up to extend the ND deal. And don't think for a second that NBC has not been involved in all of these negotiations. Notre Dame did not make this ACC move without their knowledge and consent.
