The Refs that keep missing game checks? Not so much.

You do realize they have full time jobs, don't you? The NFL checks are gravy....

Those would be some rich TV contracts with no fans to watch them.

Ultimately, the money comes from the fans.

TV contracts have zero stipulation in regards to amount of fans watching.

Networks obligated to pay unless GAMES are cancelled

they could have a 0.0 rating and still have to pay

so no, fans are minor in all this, no matter what YOU think

if they have 0.0 ratings, the tv company will pull the contract.. so yes it does matter... people will lose LOTS of money if no one watched and it would have a major impact.... imagine how much money would be lost by the owner if 0 fans showed up to the stadium to watch the game.... if that happened once, this strike would be over

Speaking of what YOU think...you have no idea how media buying works.

The networks pay the NFL for broadcasting rights to their games. In turn they sell ads based on guaranteed GRP's. If the networks under deliver they have to provide extra commercials free of charge to advertisers to meet their GRP obligations.

Begin your education by googling Gross Rating Points and then read This

He's definitely right, but his money comes from the fans. This would be like me having a conflict at work and then telling my clients to take their business elsewhere. Idiotic.

It wouldn't be so idiotic if your clients had signed a contract with you guaranteeing a minimum payout if they no longer require your services.

Quite what?

I think he should stay quite effusive in his belligerence toward the obtuse Goodell.

And not because he has to make the hard decisions and take hits for it. Moreso just because he is a d-bag.

Reduce all suspensions by half and give us Vitt back for the Packers then Payton back at midseason. And get back the regular refs.

Vilma's obviously butthurt.

He has every right to be, though.

The guy had a great reputation around the league for almost decade, and has now lost a year of his career and has been painted as some type of savage by Goodell for participating in a practice thats been going on for decades.
