He started stumbling well before he made it to where he did. He was lucky to even be that close.

Alan Richer talked about this last night on the post game show with Charles Hanigriff. He said Mett needs to toughen up and "get meaner." He said he plays too soft.

He needs to go tell the offensive line the same thing. The OL has been weak and pathetic in all 4 games. We need a mean LT and some fire on the OL. They need to get pissed when they miss a block and punch someone in the mouth.

He has probably been coached not to take hits.

That being said in a game like that, you have to put it on the line and go hard.

this is dumb. had he gotten hurt, you would've been posting about how stupid his decision to run was

Being that he is not a spread typ QB that has quick feet he does at least run somewhat. Our past Qb's either ran at first thought or stood there like a tree. I think we have more upside with Mett than previous ones.

He looks scared to take the hit now. I can't blame him after getting rocked by North Texas of all teams. I'm sure he was worried about Auburn even more.

I guarantee you that every coach on the field was telling to 'protect himself' prior to and during the game. He'll get more decisive.

He looked weak. He showed no emotions and lacked leadership as an LSU QB. I hope he gets better or it will be a long season.

Some of you people are so stupid you cant see the forrest bc of the trees.
and I am leary of people like yourself calling people stupid when in fact it is the other way around. No one asking the kid to take a hit to get hurt, but he took it anyways so you might as well get the damn first down if you are going to do that.

This is football, a contact game in case you hadn't noticed. Hits are to be expected. Mettenberger outweighed this kid (the DB that hit him) by at least 40 pounds. Just lower your shoulder and run him the frick over for the first, hell, he didn't even need to do that just fall forward and he would have gotten the first. Instead he slowed up and took an unneccessary hit that actually could have hurt him! The way he plays, if he doesn't protect himself from taking shots he will get hurt playin like that!

It's his first real taste of big boy football.
He'll toughen up.

Hell, half of the posters dissing him now were bitching all summer he should've started 1-9-12.

They'll be posting "Start Rivers" if we don't hang 40 on UF again.

I said he pulled up at the end of the run, how does that translate to stumble, genius?

you clowns are talkin about another one of his attempts at running for a first. I am talkin about his very first attempt running for a first down, he had it until he pulled up and let the DB pop him.
