Common's rap career has fallen off like a bad bag of dope. His last album was garbage, and I lost alot of respect for him after the whole drake thing.
Albums like Resurrection, One day It'll all make sense, and Be. Showed who common was, but I just don't see that anymore. It's kinda like that Jay line fricked him up in the head. He realized his earning potential and went commercial. Nothing wrong with that but when you are in Disney movies its hard to get that street cred back.

Common also has never been commercial, making money in movies and commercials doesnt equal being commercial. Be came out after he supposedly went commercial according to you. And who did all the production on be? Kanye. HIs last album is far from garbage and its also not commercial at all.

so what is commercial to you? he's won a grammy (the most commercial award of the year), he's been in commercials to make money, he's an actor, he's got a book out. clearify what is commercial then

one upper? And I dont think I have a favorite really, because I like a ton of rappers with a ton of different styles (If were talking all time, then its Biggie going away). But I like a lot of the guys mentioned in this thread (Kanye, Killer Mike etc) as well as other mainstream guys like TI, YMCMB (including wayne, here is where you attack my taste), kid Cud, Wiz. And I also like some upcomers/midtier guys like Tyler the Creator, Krit, Meek Milli, Pusha T, Swayze and J cole.

i like all these too, i've been back on a wayne kick here lately, i'm not saying dirt nasty or mickey avalon are my favorite rappers of all time, but i did really like mickey's last album and if people are asking , i'll be tellin! spreading the word, i'm a superfan

So if you win a grammy you are commercial? Um, no. Making money is the whole point of having a career. When you make pop music just to sell units, you're commercial. Common makes shite he wants to make and doesnt follow a cookie cutter formula.
