They are willfully trying to stage a question so Romney will have to contradict himself if he is not careful.
I can't believe that you are perfectly fine with the media picking a side and only reporting on that side.
The media is supposed to be OBJECTIVE. They should not have a motive other than getting the facts and then reporting them.

I didnt realize that competative journalists, who'd step over their own mother to get a question in were so generous amongt themselves that they'd share the "best" question.

The OP is suggesting the media is somehow nefariously coordinating attacks on Romney. Having known members of the media in Washington, I know this is absolute hogwash. This is another example of paraniod right wing <liberalmedia> trump card. When thing go bad, blame the media.
Were they "coordinating questions"? Yes. Is that rare? No. As in any profession, reporters talk. And they talk before press conferences so they can ask the best possible question if called upon. Are they trying to ask difficult questions? Absolutely. It's their job.

Oh, I think the MSM is absolutely terrible. Just for different reasons than you do.
I look at the media's coverage of
- the leadup to the iraq war
- the bailout of the banks
- their exclusion of 3rd party candidates from 2008 and 2012 election coverage
- their lack of coverage of the drone strikes in the middle east
And then I look at ownership concentration, especially among large corporations. And I go, yes, there is a bias. its a bias to the status quo, and to keep the demopublican ogolipoly in power. Its quite frightening.
two reporters discussing their question before a press conference is a fricking non event IMHO.

As HotAir points out, it's not only that they wanted a certain question asked...
The one question they wanted didn't pertain to events, or how a President Romney would handle them. It was going for a "gotcha" moment to skewer him with. That's what they were after.
That's not journalism. It's hackery. And we've been warning about it here for years. Those in denial at this point are complicit. They're also the same demented objectors of voter ID. Go figure.

As I mentioned earlier, presidents don't typically answer question in these types of situations.
Mitt didn't have to answer the question - he chose to. And he thought he was going to score big with it.

It's a legitimate and non-biased question.
Let me educate you.
1) A united states embassy is considered part of that nation's sovereignty.
2) The murder of a U.S. diplomat and 3 other Americans on American soil by a foreign country is......could be construed as an act of war.
3) Clarification of whether or not that is considered an act of war by the current administration is very important.
