It will probably cost you around 5k if your buddy does it. I will do it for you and it will only cost you around 2500.

It can be done for $600, or $1600. Depends on what parts you use.

Depends on quality of parts. I have about 2200 in mine, but my friend built his for 800 with cheaper parts

I have a lower that I need to finish out. I've been wondering the costs of building one as well. I have 2 other ones that are complete, that I bought complete.

I am not an expert on AR-15 but sign up to pallmetto armory site and get their emailed specials and just order what you need take your time and save your money. i have roughly 550.00 in mine first one i have ever built, you pull the trigger and it goes bang

Don't buy a polymer lower, however cheap it may be

This is what I have. Rock RiverArms complete lower.

You could probably build one for $500 if you shop around and wait for deals. $800 or so for a pretty decent one, upwards of however much you want to spend.

This.
If you can find a way to save more money by buying assembled parts and you don't plan on getting higher quality components, just do it.
I bought a DPMS upper off Midway for a little under 500, and bought a Rock River National Match lower locally for 400. So before optics, I was at 900 dollars. Not a bad deal for exactly what I wanted.
Decide what you want, and search for the deal and tally it up.

$600 approx with standard mill spec parts and minor upgrades. The cost will increase as you do any hop ups to the basic pkgs.

Built my Double Star Flat Top with a DS lower and Magpul stock with a Yankee Hill popup rear sight for about $850.
I'll probably spend >1000 on optics once I put something on it. Trijicon or EOtech. Haven't decided. Like the ACOG better though.

Engineering is killing me. One of the first things I'm doing once I start makin $$ is building an AR.

If you're like me when I was in Engineering...you don't have time for anything but school....oh wait a minute...during that time I smoked some ducks during each fall semester..and early spring. LOL

Anybody have any experience with Larue Tactical uppers? Are they worth the money? I have a few of their mounts and other goodies and they are top notch. If a fella didn't mind spending the money, is it worth it to buy a Larue upper? Also in the same ballpark are Wilson uppers. The lower I have will be my 3rd AR so I would like to do this one a little different.

I just recently "got into" the AR scene, and still don't know much, but I have learned that you can spend as little as $500 as I did, or $2500+ if you please. Huge amount of accessories you can spend lots of money on also. Just decide what you're gonna do with it, and give your buddy a budget, unless you're an OT baller.
