So, Bill, considering 1988, youre saying Wes Jacob, Chad Loup, Jeff Cancienne, Roovelroe Swan, Corey White, Kevin Mawae, etc. were not top 20 talent?!

You're wrong.

Outside of Kenny Marshal and Scott Estay, all top bluechip kids qualified.....

I don't think I said anything like that. A few good football players don't win anything. You have to recruit a lot of good players each year, at least wind up with 14-15 SEC quality players out each class going into their 3rd year to have a good run. Your 3rd & 4th classes need to have 25-30 players to have the maturity and experience to compete for a championship. You can add some 5th years player into this total. Prop 48 was a killer to LA football players for the late 80s and the most part of the 90s. LSU has always has it base as LA players and Prop 48 cut the number of good players out of LA to less than half. So what we got for that half was just not as good and LSU did not have enough good players to compete well.
