There are only 2 games we need to be at our full potential for: Alabama and Arkansas

Why do so many treat this place like their personal blog?

They think they are analysts and this is espn.com, it's hilarious.

Some of them even think they are college coaches. It's childish and detracts from an otherwise good site.

Yeah, I get it, most of the ranters on here are LSU students or recent graduates who think they are "in" on all the latest, but JHC on a popsicle stick, give it a break and STFU while the grown ups talk.

LSU Needs to Reach Full Potential by National Championship Game

FIFY. One game at a time, but we need to improve every week not peak too soon as the OP suggests

I think you have to experience near potential, and practice it before you can be proficient at it, and achieve it at will. Hope to see LSU put the throttle down for the next couple of weeks.

We should be striving for 100% every game. Every snap

Well obviously we can't play like shite leading up to those games and expect to play well. I'm just saying those are the two games on our schedule that we can't afford to play below our potential IMO

Overall, Mett must improve on presnap recognition of the defense along with decision-making with pressure in his face

I agree totally. We were in a hurry up a few times in the game which was very pleasant to see. To your point if Mett starts pointing out the weakness in the defense and motioning players and changing blocking assignments I believe this team could be a freight train with Kenny Hilliard wearing teams the frick out. I honestly don't know if Mett is given the freedom to make a ton of pre snap decisions

I don't get this kind of reaction. The post was informative and well thought out. Yours was the useless one. I'm sure you make great ones too, and it's nothing personal, but this is a message board for LSU fans interested enough to actually talk about the aspects of the team's performance, and other related issues. That's actually why I visit this site.

It's implied by the "haters" that it's better to keep it shallow, don't risk anything too analytical, don't think too much about the team/players, don't concern yourself with possible areas of improvement.

If these type of posts are not your type of hype, just bounce and if most most other people don't fancy this sort of self-evaluation and they bounce too, then this post will disappear in a blink.

The trainwreck is all the message board policeman that show up and just start arresting each other.

No offense intended.

I am with you, just saying you have to practice being your best so you can be your best. I hope to see LSU go all out even in games it's not necessary.

Gulf Coast Tiger8...

Yea...a bit long to read, but thought the content of your analysis was spot on. Frankly, better than than the complete lack of analysis you can find by the sports journalists these days who are afraid to piss off the coach or athletic administration with critical, but accurate analysis.

You think it's possible all those screens were a setup for stiffer competition?

I don't think any of us know exactly why the play selection was as it was.

Should have been 27-20. Kicker from BG missed two semi-easy FG's

I'm not reading all that, but they have a very nice test against Washington and then another tune up game against Towson. You should not be looking past Auburn when the game is there. You might be more likely to overcome a hiccup than at Florida, but by the 4th game is ideal to me.

I agree with pretty everything you said except this...

quote:

We have 4 more games to perfect who we are as a team this year (including Auburn – if Clemson ran all over them, we will too).

I would not go to sleep on Auburn. They have a long history of looking like shite early and then getting it together later. In '07, they lost at home to South Florida and then later took us to literally the final second in Tiger Stadium. In 2010, they barely scraped by Miss. St., needed a miracle comeback to beat Clemson and a last-play FG to beat Kentucky, then later Cam ran all over us. All things considered, I'd like for us to be at least a good bit closer to our potential by the time we go to Jordan-Hare.
