Tedford always out-recruits Oregon as well. Still can't put it together. QB's were his forté and they have been so terrible at that position for a few years now.

Yeah they had like 3 really good players over the span of a few years that kept them above water. Other than that it always was a shitty program.

I think most folks that follow West Coast CF knew Nevada (led by ex-Servite star QB Cody Fajardo) was going to beat Cal.

Cal was the defacto other-ranked Pac 10 program during USC's run last decade in the preseason.
They never won shite but they always received tremendous love for having two really good years...one beating USC in OT in 2003 and almost beating USC in 2004.
No other team garnered so much love and respect from the national media than Cal did for almost winning...they could never beat any great teams after that upset of USC in 2003.)
Preseason ranking - final record
2004 = #13 (10-2)
2005 - #19 (8-4)
2006 - #9 (10-3)
2007 - #12 (7-6)
