Seems like pete wants to see how Wilson does against the 1st team

If you think Wilson is an option QB, then you've never seen him play a single game. The guy has been playing at a very high level since he stepped onto the NCSU campus ... and NEVER as an option QB. I would say he has a stronger arm than Flynn, but his lack of height forces him to move outside the pocket to find passing lanes.

no he wasn't an option QB like the QBs at Nebraska back in the day or GA Tech now, but he had over 400 career carries in college. He's never been a true pocket QB. Would dual-threat make you feel better? Russell Wilson's stats throwing look a lot better than he actually is/was throwing because of his athleticism. He's not Cam Newton and won't be able to rely on it as much as Cam can. Watching him plan in college he actually reminded me a lot of Terrell Pryor, and I think he's an average at best QB at the next level.

In the one year Flynn started he had 100 carries. If you factor in the two games he missed and the carries RP took away he might've ended up with more rushing attempts than Wilson ever had in a season. He was just as dual threat but with a lot less statistical success.

why don't most people understand this?

Just because flynn started in the 1st & 2nd preseason games really doesn't mean much as far as saying that he's a lock for the starting job in the opener.

It seems like Flynn may have been forced on Carroll, which would suck if true.

Seems like carrol wants to see how Russell Wilson fares against the 1st team defense of the other team, and since the 3rd game is where most of the 1st teamers play, he's starting him.

Pete Carroll is certainly confusing.

And? Wilson started for 4 years and had 400 career carries ... Flynn started for 1 year and had 100 carries that year. I'll let you do the math and then make your own conclusion.

Wilson set the NCAA FBS record last year with a passing efficiency of 191.8. An average QB would never approach those numbers. Believe what you want to, but Wilson is legit. I personally do not believe he will start this year, but I promise he's not "Terrell Pryor".

I think he's confused because he's in a situation where no one has jumped ahead of the other guy.

It's similar to the Card's QB situation [expect flip the situation where both QB's are terrible}. In the end, I expect Flynn to start , just like i expect Kolb to start for the Card's. Both of theses guys have been payed the money to be the starting QB already. Now it's up to them to make something of it or shite the bed.

Wilson threw for more yards and TDs his JR and SR years than Pryor did his entire career. He threw for 5,000 more yards in his career and rushed for 800 less.

Flynn has played against 1st team defenses and Wilson has not.

Both had 2nd rate WR talent to throw to

Flynn threw a PERFECT bomb to TO which he dropped. I don't understand what Carroll wants out of flynn.

This is Petey's way of getting back at LSU for 2003. Yes, he is light in the loafers.

Yeah he would have had another year of potentially showing his talents and picked a better situation than Seattle next year, cause who here thinks he will see all of that $27 million from Seattle and be around for the next contract?

I agree that Wilson is legit. However, what was Flynns numbers/rating vs Ohio St when Ohio St had then number one defense in NCAA Football.
Compare apples to apples.
Flynn has played in two complete NFL games. He looked pretty good.
Pre-season doesn't mean crap.
