Gainesville on Game Day

Since I am so close, I was thinking of going to the Florida game. Anyone have any idea how parking is for the game? How about Tiger fans tailgating, are there a lot?

Yep. Cops there are like Nazis, so be careful if you're walking around with booze in a cup.
If you received your tickets through LSU, chances are UF put you up in the infamous "sunshine seats." If so, pray that the game is at night.
Their fans are mean, not obnoxious in a fun way, just plain mean. That said, the Swamp is the only stadium I've been to that can rival Tiger Stadium in terms of sheer noise.

This. However last we went we drove around until we found a free place to park on the grass with other LSU & Florida fans not far at all from the stadium. LSU fans always travel well, you won't be alone.

My least favorite tailgating experience out of the stadiums I've been to... Meh.

This is a very true statement!

Went for the 1st time 2 years ago. There are shuttle buses that leave from a shopping mall starting roughly 5 hours before kickoff. Went early and ate and drank at the Ruby Tuesdays and mingled with other LSU and Gator fans. Buses dropped us off near the LSU local alumni tailgate just down the street from the stadium. Those guys had tents set up and were cooking. Seats and TV - we watched SC kick Bamas arse. For drinks, brought cheap soft coolers on the bus with beer iced down and discarded before going to the game. After the game, there was a bit of a line to go back, but it moved quickly and had a good time talking to the LSU and Gator fans in line. Buses get priority for getting to and from the stadium - glad I wasn't sitting in traffic.
For all the things I had heard about going to Florida, wife and I had a good time and had no problems.

There are pay lots near the stadium, usually rented out by stores and others businesses for the day.
DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT walk out of a designated tailgating area with a beer or liquor drink, be it in a cup or not. The police will hammer you.

Second worst gameday environment in the SEC. Only ahead of Arkansas at Little Rock.

I'd rank them above Vandy too. South Carolina's isn't all that great either, but at least they have somewhat of an excuse since their stadium is off campus.

I've been to all of the all of the SEC stadiums except Ark, and by far Vandy takes the cake as worst.

You're better off in your recliner, srsly. "plain mean" is putting it lightly, and if you're wearing purple and gold, you better have a DD, and a bubba keg where they can't see what's in it.
I dont know how LSU gets ranked for the meanest fans, when the toothless great unwashed in G'Ville are absolutely ruthless. Bring a knife.

Live in FL currently going to FSU, been to a few games in Gainesville over the years. Went to the last LSU-UF game and while the game/stadium was great, everything else sucked.

Parking is awful. You can pay to park in private yards, student rental houses near the stadium.
As someone already posted, Gainesville cops are nasty as are campus cops and stadium security.
UF fans are comprised of shite heads, asshats and douchebags and the male fans are worse.
