I really want Gerion and Tyrek to reappear. Gerion seems way more interesting than Tywin and Kevin, that's for sure.

"On the morrow you will go to Izembaro to begin your first apprenticeship."

Could refer to a person or a place

Yep, that's what I think too. Although the AWOIAF states that Izembaro is a person.

Guess we'll see in TWoW, which I'm overly optimistic/hopeful for a 2014 release.

I believe it is a person since she never went anywhere. She was still in Bravos.

So y'all think Arya is going to be doing some Faceless Man work in a brothel, perhaps the one with The Sailor's Wife/Tysha?

I pray to the old gods and new that GRRM doesn't have Tyrion asking where whores go for the next 2 books.

I have no clue to what will happen with Arya, but it is one of the things that I am most looking forward to.

re: Crackpot ASOIAF Theories SPOILERS

I definitely think that Arya isn't going to finish her Faceless Man training, and that she'll end up back in Westeros sometime before the ending of TWoW. I also want her to have more chapters in TWoW; she only had 3 in AFFC and 2 in ADWD. Same with Sansa; she had anywhere from 6-8 chapters in the first 3 books, then only had 3 in AFFC, and 0 in ADWD. I hope they each have at least 6-8 chapters in the next book.

Possibility that Arya could go back to KL and become the new Spider.

Also I finished my reread with AGoT. I have notes of some things I picked up on. It's only from the Arya III chapter on, but once have a little more time I'll post them to see what y'all think. I already mentioned one with the Septon at the wall.

I just got a thought, what says Benjen didn't desert? How do we know Ned didn't tell Benjen about the letter and to figure out a way to find more info about what is really going on in the realm?

Going through a re-read, and I have to ask: What the frick was Cersei thinking making Janos Slynt the Lord of Harrenhall? Slynt is a oaf, incompetent, and does nothing for them in the Riverlands but likely spike more rebellion. Janos didn't do jack shite but be bribed, but at least Littlefinger legitimately saved King's Landing from Stannis. Littlefinger also has actual friends and connections from the Riverlands, so his appointment makes sense, but putting Slynt there is absolutely retarded.

Either way he's still alive. Too much has been said about him. If he was dead GRRM would have no reason to bring him up so often in characters' dialogue.

Because of this:

Cersei is absolutely retarded.

Cersei is bat shite crazy, and a sociopath, as evidence in all of the books, particularly AFFC-present. Like she has any reasoning skills that a rational ruler would have . To be honest, I'm shocked that she wasn't removed from power sooner. I wonder, if Tywin would've lived (and Joffrey still dead), if he would've sent Cersei back to the Rock or still try to marry her off.

Tywin approved of Tyrion sending him to the Wall, FWIW. Janos had no business getting Harrenhall, and it's cursed anyway. I'm counting down for Littlefinger and Roose Bolton to die since the Lord of Harrenhall title is cursed.

Honestly, I think Tywin was planning on shipping her back to the Rock as soon as the Wedding was finished. Tywin knew he had to let Cersei be there for the wedding and the unexpected trial, so he delayed her likely planned removal. If Tywin had lived to the present, he would have for sure sent her back to the Rock after the clusterfrick of raising Joffrey.

He would have still tried to marry her off from a distance, but I think that the only child that Tywin really realized what she was was Cersei. He knew she had to leave Joffrey and the realm behind, or they were doomed. It was really the decision listed above that I'm sure destroyed his opinion of Cersei, and he wasn't about to let her anywhere near power again.

And Slynt was lucky that it was Tyrion who came down and not Tywin, because Tywin would have probably just killed him off instead of sending him to the Wall.

All of this

Tyrion and Tywin make mostly the same decisions. Tywin only hated Tyrion cause he's a little guy. If the other 2 kids acted like Tyrion, Tywin would love it.

That's why Tyrion never "accidentally died" Tywin needed him to maybe rub off on the twins

It wasn't Cersei that really did it. It was Littlefinger's idea to give that to Slynt. If was also Varys idea to get rid of Selmy. I'm on my phone on these post because my computer is fricked right now and the game is about to start but I promise to put some of those notes up tomorrow. Y'all might find some good in what I got.

I don't see why that would be Littlefinger's idea. Littlefinger wanted to get high enough to marry Lysa, so I don't see why he'd want his toad to get Harrenhall before himself.

I completely buy that it was Varys idea to get rid of Barristan though, but its still strange to me that he would send Barristan to Dany and not Aegon. The dragons hadn't even hatched when Barristan left the King's Guard.

Cersei tells Tyrion that they were behind the change up, not her. Reread Tyrion I in ACoK.

I'm convinced that if Tyrion wasn't a dwarf that he'd be Tywin's favorite child and would be his heir. Even if he did resent him for 'killing' Joanna, I think he'd have no issue being his heir if he was "normal sized"; but Tywin is a cruel, evil, prideful a-hole and could never let a "weakling" like Tyrion inherit the Rock and besmirch the "Lannister name".

And it probably would've been a good thing for Tywin to have killed Slynt on the spot, but I love that Jon was the one who killed him. It was probably the best moment of justice being served for the shite he pulled against Ned and bringing the Stark household to ruin. Plus it showed that Jon was capable of manning up and a step in the right direction of "killing the boy and letting the man be born". Oh and Stannis giving the nod cemented him as one of my favorite non-POV characters.

Didn't Littlefinger originally ask Cersei (which Cersei reflected on in ADWD) that he wanted to marry Sansa (sometime during ACoK), but Cersei stated that he was too lowborn for that to happen?

I still think that Littlefinger wants Sansa to be his consolation prize (for not winning Cat) and marry her...And I think Littlefinger knows that Sansa is a younger, saner, more beautiful version of her. But I don't see it happening; Littlefinger has gotten by on a lot of luck in his planning, and I don't think that things are just going to continue to fall in line like they did the first 4 books. Major shite is going to happen in TWoW, and I think Sansa is going to shake things up.

re: Crackpot ASOIAF Theories SPOILERS

Speaking of Lannisters, does anybody subscribe to the theory that Cersei and Jamie are the children of Aerys Targaryen?

In ADWDs, Ser Barristan and Daenerys had a little chat about the marriage of her parents. He revealed that Aerys never loved his wife, instead lusting after the wife of his King’s Hand, Tywin Lannister. There was a long-standing tradition in Westeros where a noble could claim the right to spend the first night with the bride of his inferior, however this custom was banned ages ago as it was deemed barbaric. On the night of Tywin’s wedding, a drunken Aerys made a joke about claiming Joanna’s first night, much to the dismay of the guests

There are several parallels between the Lannister twins and the Targaryen clan. To start off, there is the excessive sibling-loving, which Cersei, herself, justified as being ‘okay’, since the Targaryens had been fricking each other for all everyone could remember. If the Targaryens could stick it into each other, why could not Jaime stick it in her?

However, it is important to note that this crazy talk might be due to her mental health going berserk, which is ironically another sign of having Targaryen genes. I mean, the house is well-known for producing psychotic broods.

Another big parallel is Cersei’s fascination with fire. We see that from her demented captivation while watching the Tower of the Hand burned down. Of course, being a pyro fanatic is a common trait of the Targaryens.

However, this theory does have a massive downside: Tywin Lannister.

The relationship between the King and his Hand was known to be awfully volatile. Tywin never forgot the Mad King’s lustful jest about his beloved wife, and the former is famous of being extremely protective of his family. It would be almost impossible for Aerys to have gotten near Joanna in any sexual way possible

It seems unlikely for GRRM to reveal yet another plot twist, that really would contribute almost nothing to the overall storyline. The only input that this theory would give to the series, if it proves to be true, would be the ironic revelation of Tyrion as Tywin’s only heir and the rightful lord of Casterly Rock
