re: Jet Skier Breaks Through JFK Airport's $100 Million Security System

America will always have trouble with intelligent security screening because of political correctness run amok. They are more interested in maintaining a random/non race or creed based search than actually keeping the planes safe. This isn't gonna change any time soon.

I hope this guy gets a decent lawyer, because that's absurd he got charged with anything.

He actually did a service to JFK and national security by showing how awful the security system is.

This.

Making TSA a federal agency was one of the worst moves by "W."

Not gonna happen now. The TSA and the American Federation of Government Employees have reached agreement on the first-ever labor contract for TSA officers.

Should he have been charged with trespassing?

Seems like the dude had no choice.

I suspect JFK's administrators don't see it quite that way.

Reminds me of the German teenager back in the 80's who flew his private plane all the way to Moscow and landed it in Red Square in broad daylight. Soviet air defense officials were not amused. Video of the landing is here.

Since when is it illegal to walk into an airport? I'm sure the crossing the runways are what they're charging him off of, but shit, seriously?

They should be monitoring watercraft out there anyway, and especially at night when the place is most vulnerable.

Common sense never hurt anyone.

Not climb the 8 foot barbed wire fence and just walk around would have been a start.

I'm thinking he knew he wasn't suppossed to climb over an 8 ft barbed wire fence at JFK.

CNN reported this morning that he swam almost 3 miles (with a life jacket) to reach the shore at the airport. They didn't mention climbing a fence -- made it sound like he walked up the bank near the end of a runway.

But in any event, this guy is toast. Once you embarrass the Federal government, they are gonna shove you under the jail.

Security was private before 9/11 and up to the forming of the TSA.

It was more of a joke than the TSA. Contracts went to the lowest bidders and I doubt half of the screeners were even born in the US.

The problem with the TSA is low standards and low pay. They get the people they are willing to pay for. The US could use fewer higher paid professionals like Israel and be much more effective, but I guess you can blame that on W.
