im not sure he believed he would be kicked off the team.

allowing one more chance might work for him. He has been kicked and will have to sit out the year but if he can prove he can be clean for a year he is back.

Of course he would need to become tim tebow type person off the field for this to work

Would the school allow it? Can you get kicked out of school then readmitted?

They do it with regular students all the time

I may be in the minority on this, but I thought about this yesterday as a possibility. It would be all about redemption. I think in terms of the NFL and public perception, he would have made a mistake, paid a price, and grown from it. Even though he wont be on the team, he could still be around the people he knows as family. A new start in a new place isn't always the answer. Unless of course, LSU won't allow it.

This means that he failed his third drug test - which results in a one-year suspension.

There was some speculation that he failed his fourth test - which results in being kicked out of university.

Not sure if Miles wants to go there, but Alleva seemed very upset by the news. I've got to think if there is way, they will make it work.

I think it would be a good decision. It gives him options. He has the option to go pro without risk of injury this spring if he desires. It gives him the option to play for LSU in the SEC again (if that is possible).

Having his positive leadership, which is a component of what he brings to the table, in Baton Rouge and in the ears of the younger players, even if just around campus, would be a great benefit to LSU this season as well IMO.

He wasn't kicked out of school, just off of the team. He could finish his degree at LSU no problem. But, if he wants to play football he's either got to go somewhere else or get approval for reinstatement to the team.

You can be readmitted, remember this is a school policy not a NCAA policy. Bama, LSU, USCe, Fla etc.. have different policies. they can do what they want.

We were just talking about the possibility of this. He can use his redshirt if they work something out. Only time will tell.

How can this be worked out with LSU? Don't you think they thought about this before they released him from the team. If it was a possibility that he could sit out a year would they have not offered it to him as an option?

I just don't think it's going to happen. Hope it does.....

He wouldn't even have to use that. I know this is a bad analogy due to two very differing things, but it's like those that go on a mission while in college. Their football clock stops until they return. You can't lose a year of eligibility if you aren't on the team

He was dismissed. Now he's exploring options. His dismissal doesn't preclude anything that I know of.
