I noticed in the 2012 media guide that La'el didn't earn a letter last year. Wikipedia says a common threshold in football is participation in 1/2 of the quarters the team played in during the season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, I thought to letter you had to have 16 quarters played, or 4 games. I've always thought if you played 3 games and then got injured, you lettered. Anyone ???

La'el didn't letter but Mett did. Are the requirements different for different positions?

How many games did Mett play in? Maybe LSU looks at it in terms of games played (not quarters). So, if you play 4 plays for the entire season, 1 play in each game, LSU would see it as that you played in 4 games.

I think you are right. Getting in the game for 6 or 7 minutes counts as a 15 min. quarter. You get credit for a whole quarter even if it's a little less, like 1 or 2 series. My son used to play is how I know a little about it.
