Just by looking at the names, you can see how many more holes the Hornets' roster has than the one in Minnesota. Vasquez may end up as the starting point guard after what we saw from Rivers at the position in summer league. Even if Rivers improves, we don't know how he'll fit with Gordon. We also don't know if Anderson can really function as a full-time 3. Davis and Lopez will be a formidable defensive duo on the inside, but the frontcourt depth is iffy and the squad is woefully short on wing defenders. On top of all that, the Hornets will be the league's youngest team, making experience an issue. Only the placeholder roster in Houston has a lower percentage of returning minutes, so continuity will be nil. Despite these peccadilloes, the upgrade in talent is immense and the ceiling is high up and down the line. For the coming season, NBAPET has the Hornets at a respectable 37 wins, and the early SCHOENE numbers are right in that range. The West is deep, with nine teams projected to finish over .500, so a playoff berth would be a surprise. However, you can't dismiss the possibility for a roster with so much upside. The key may be Williams' ability to instill a Spurs-like defensive mentality in the Big Easy. And another lottery spot wouldn't be the worst outcome for the growing hive of Hornets. There are clear spots to be upgraded, which is much easier to do on draft day, especially when the foundation is already in place. That's especially true when the foundation is young and can be counted on to improve in the seasons to come.

Until the Hornets, with the help of the Sixers and Nuggets, send Anthony Davis to the Lakers for a 42 year old Metta World Peace and a 2nd round pick in 2019.

Very good read. The Hornets' analysis looks to be pretty much in line with my projection on H247 last Friday; in the 2009-10 season, the Hornets had 37 wins and were 11th in the conference (though the WC is deeper now than it was then).

I'm also happy to see how strong of a season he predicts Minnesota to have; I noted that I strongly believe they're playoff-bound, but Doolittle has them all the way up at the 4th seed. Pretty impressive if that comes to pass.

37 wins seem about right to me. Thats a 16 win improvement which is very respectable.

I'd be pleasantly surprised with 37 wins and extremely excited with a playoff berth.

I don't think we're quite there yet. A high draft pick and a solid FA class next year will get us there though.

Keep in mind we didn't play a full 82-game season last year.

I think we'd be better long term to get another high draft pick to put next to Davis

How strong does the draft look next season? I thought people were expecting it to be relatively weak.

If that is the case I would rather the most improvement possible so the hype around this team will continue upwards. This team will not suck next season unless we suffer key injuries.

Gordon and Davis are legit
Anderson and Lopez are solid additions to Smith in supporting our new front court star.

The future looks bright. I'm In!

Honestly I never left. Geaux Hornets!
