Everybody hates government hand outs unless they are getting them. That's the problem with our system.

Ben Franklin warned us of this:
When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

No
I said if Barry enacted legislation that wiped out student debt, I would not say "excuse me barry, I know you are adding trillions in debt, but I really want to pay my 100k back"

Its the situation where the "small government" and looking out for the individual would collide.
If you are a rational individual looking out for your own interests, as many libertarians and economists would laud, you would be stupid to refuse the offer of forgiving your loans.
On the other hand, your internal struggle would be that you are tacitly approving government powers it should not have. Quite a quandary.

The GI bill isn't the same for everyone since they have 3 or 4 versions. For me, I'm on REAP 1607 and I get a "check" direct deposited each month. I'm on 60% with a $350 kicker to take my pay to $1,233. 80 for a full month. Prorated the shorter months.
The school never sees that $.

this has to be one of the worst ideas in a long history of terrible ideas
to just forgive billions in loans? because kids don't want to pay them back? DA frick?

there is nothing that will describe how pissed I will be if some slapdick general studies major gets 50k forgiven. My wife and I worked our asses off to pay our 92k off in 25 months. These frickers can suck it up. Yeah I'm mad.

Majors and GPA need to start factoring in to student loan rates IMO.

Isn't the Post 9/11 Bill pretty lucrative. The tuition is paid plus student gets E-5 BAH and a stipend for books?
