I got home yesterday to a nudist tree. Apparently lightning hit it and according to my neighbor, blew all the bark off. There was pieces of bark about 10-15ft from the truck. This tree is almost 30 years old and there's not a single piece of bark left up the first 15ft of the truck or so. Ive never seen anything like that. There's also a big split in it that runs about 10 ft long. RIP tree.

If its close to your house or any buildings you should go ahead and cut that baby down now... if it falls on your house your homeowners insurance usually doesn't cover dead tree damage.

Throw some varnish on it. That would be sweet.

Got one of mine last week & it blew bark about 50 yards in all directions. Was gonna cut it in firewood but FIL said a tree that has been struck by lighting won't burn worth a shite. Anybody ever here of this?
