I didn't say I agreed with him getting the blame arse. I was saying that Melo probably resented being asked "are you ok with this now being Lin's team when you return?" a billion times while he was out, so he's probably not exactly sad to see him go.

That and Carmelo isn't a very likable guy in general so people will take any chance to pounce on him they get.

In unrelated news, Anthony has $67 million left over three years on his contract. The Knicks have yet to advance past the first round.

Anthony said Saturday that he wanted Lin to remain his teammate. But he followed that up with this remark on Sunday: “It’s up to the organization to say that they want to match that ridiculous contract.”

There’s a real question now whether the Knicks will match the Jeremy Lin offer sheet from Houston, a three-year, $25 million offer.

Am I missing something? 3 yrs / 25 mill is ridiculous, but 3 yrs / 67 mill is just fine?

3/67
5 time All-star
3 time Olympian
5 times on some All-NBA team

3/25
25 starts

And if the contract was set up for 8.3 a year it wouldn't be an issue.

A healthy jeremy lin would earn the knicks twice as much as mr. isolation. Knicks should match. He is probably the most popular player in the nba.

Who cares about the Olympics. That's not an accomplishment teams pay for.

Honestly, melo's accomplishments are pretty underwhelming when you consider his contract and fanfare

Wouldn't this be even more true for Lin?

Absolutely. I don't think anyone would deny that. I just think it would be wise for players to shy away from commenting

But now that we're on the subject, melo is sooo overrated

Exactly.

The melo hate is out of control, this is coming from a life long knick fan that has cursed melo many a time. Hes still an nba star. Lin, as amazing as he was for 2 weeks when both melo and amare were hurt, is still an unproven commodity.

At this point, i dont care if they match or not honestly. Lin played the knicks, good for him.

You're missing the context of the NBA rules and the poison pill in the contract, which is the $14 million in the third year which ends up costing the Knicks about $50 million in the third year.

THAT'S what's ridiculous about the contract. The poison pill, not the 3/25.

If I had to place a bet on who is still relevant in three years, my money's on Lin and his 25 mil.

Madison Square Garden's market cap increased by 600 million since Linsanity started. They should probably think on that.

On another note, why is anyone upset with Lin or the Rockets? Can you blame a guy and his agent for trying to get more money? Then we have people making it sound like the Rockets are evil for increasing the dollars on the final year. Why not change their offer once the Knicks made it apparent they would match the previous offer? Isn't the whole point of giving a player an offer sheet to acquire said player?

You can always count on stupid Morey for sticking us with ridiculous contracts ON PLAYERS WHO HAVE CONTINUOUS KNEE PROBLEMS. *See Tracy McBaby*

There is so much wrong with this post I don't know where to start. 1) Morey has no history of "sticking us with ridiculous contracts." 2) He wasn't GM when McGrady signed. 3) Everyone was thrilled we had McGrady at the time. 4) McGrady's knee didn't become a problem until the end of his stint with the Rockets.

The guys with the wisdom to shy away from saying stupid shite will always be in the minority. The media culture that exists now also doesnt help much either.

And it was T-mac's own damn fault for being a lazy arse and not rehabbing correctly and also being a vagina about it overall.
