Joe Paterno, regardless of accomplishments regarding any profession he chose, is an enabler.
That means he is a criminal.
If I had the choice of doing what is popular, and doing what is right, I would do the right thing.
Paterno did not. Would you Joe Paterno fans? If not, why would you defend the actions of anyone associated with him? Do you understand how the world, and pedophiles, work?

Basically release their charges/accusations/findings or whatever and sever ties with Sandusky completely. I will never understand why they did not. Then to repeat the process again in 2001 after an eyewitness account from one of your coaches?
So many people dropped the ball here. People latch on to Paterno because he is the legend to chop down. Nobody mentions Detective Whatever-The-frick from State College PD who got the case and did nothing or a DA or prosecutor.
BTW what FINALLY brought charges and Sandusky down? What else happened? Who finally came forward and made the story break. All the coverage this thing got I can't remember what started it.

this is why i'm a fan of the death penalty and a total administrative cleanout throughout the university...not just the athletic department...

People are saying that police declined to press any charges arising out of the 1998 abuse claim.Actually, they presented the case to the DA's office, as is the norm,and the DA declined to press charges.He never gave a reason,and then disappeared not long afterwards. His brother had previously committed suicide, that is one of the presumptions here re the DA, & there has never been anything released that links his disapperance/death to the Penn St. scandal. Obviously, it is easy now to think that JoPa talked to the DA & got him to not press charges but there is no evidence to support that..beyond common sense now.
