Lucid dreaming is very different the sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is intense and not fun, I woke up in the middle many times with out being able to move muscle in my body for at least 10 seconds.
Happens to me often. fricking sucks. I don't move a lot when I sleep. And lots of times I sleep with my hands clasped, but these days I make sure not to interlock my fingers because that seems to freak me out the most. When I wake up I can't pull my hands apart. Just freaks me out.

I've only had one lucid dream in my life and it was really lame. I was watching TV and I could control what show I was watching. Nothing else.. I guess it was semi lucid?

That creeps me out! I was living with my mom at the time (high school) so as soon as I was able to move I ran down the hall to her bedroom. I was still pretty out of it so my vision kept going in and out. I ended up running face first into the closed door of linen closet. It was really, really scary. It made me feel absolutely helpless. It is hard to rationalize that what you're seeing isn't real when you can't move an inch of your body.

I lucid dream almost every night, but it's because I'm a light sleeper. While you're dreaming, if a stimulus wakes you up just a little bit you can realize you're dreaming and control it. They have visors you can wear at night with sensors that detect when you've entered REM sleep. When that happens a little green light flashes to wake you just enough to lucid dream.

I dream every single night! I have always had the ability to remember my dreams in great detail as well. Probably 95% of my dreams are dreams that I can somewhat control, so most are peaceful and fairly calm and restful. My worst dreams are the 5% that I can't control....what is weird is that I know that I am dreaming...and I know that I have the ability to control my dreams but for whatever reason I can't. What's worse is the fact that as I am trying to control the dream the opposite of what i am trying to make happen seems to be taking place. I wake up in a extremely frustrated mood and I'm on edge and exhausted the whole day.

Oh another weird thing about my dreams that is interesting. I love to sue the shite out of people/companies/insuranc in my dreams and make a fortune that I really didn't deserve. In real life I have never sued anyone...despite being in several bad auto accidents where I wasnt at fault. Took a loss in almost all of those situations one I had to buy a new car, long term medical expenses, raised insurance rates...etc. But in my dreams....I stick it to everyone that gives me a reason to sue their arse

I am kinda like that. If I realize it's a dream and start to alter it too much, too quickly, I wake up.

exactly my situation, although I'm usually somewhere in between dreaming and waking and try to get back to the dream but can't

Yes, you can, and here's the best information you'll ever find on it - again. I'll even hit the high points for you. This is the basic way, but there are others, even foods to eat helps, and there are many other ways to induce it, ect. Again, the best source is "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" by Stephen LeBarge. You can view the book for free on the internet now. It is several years old but still the bench mark. It tells you about your dreams, the actual importance of them, what you are able to do in them, how you create everything in them, how you're able to go beyond time and space, why to confront the things that may scare you, how to remedy them and turn them into something like a pleasant puffy cloud... Here's some cool things I can remember gleaning from this exceptional book, all of which do work: Q. How to stay in a lucid dream (because you are excited when you realize it and often waken yourself)? A. rub your hands together or slowly spin yourself in a circle (grounds you into the dream) Q. How to awaken yourself if needed to garner the knowledge, ect. A. Close your eyes and open them quickly. Q. How to make sure you're actually lucid dreaming if you aren't sure. A. If you see a clock, look at it and look away and look back, 9 times out of 10, the time changes drastically, ect.... In closing: lucid dreaming is possibly the best thing you can ever do - and it's free. I mean, you can fly, see that person you want to see and do what you want to do. If it cost money, people would pay thousands upon thousands of dollars because anything is possible - flying, ect. (I said fly twice - I like fly) good night you're welcome - again

I've done it many times. Haven't tried much in the past several months, though. I've discussed it here many times. The trick is being able to recognize you are in a dream state and go from there. Once you get this down, you can even start taking bad dreams and turning them into something better. Not saying great, just better. I also get to the point where if I can't control the bad dream when I know I'm dreaming, I have the annoying ability to "yell" my way out of it: IE waking up my wife who then wakes me up. LOL

Yes, and there are many ways to train yourself to be more capable of lucid dreaming. One example...Everyday, a couple times a day, look at a sign or billboard or something....Look away.....then look back at the same sign or billboard. Ask yourself? Am I dreaming? Obviously, if the sign says the same thing that it did the first time you looked at it, you will be well aware that you are not dreaming and answer "no." However, what this does is get you in the habit of questioning whether you are dreaming or not, so when you are in an actual dream, you will do the same thing and answer "yes" and realize you are dreaming then start having lucid dreams. (in your dreams, very rarely would you look at something, look away, look back at it and it read the same thing) Google lucid dreaming...you can find many many tricks like this if you are interested in lucid dreaming.
