Something to put the fish in, possibly a small net or fish grabber and a mark on the rod or a ruler to measure the fish...

Get you some topwater stuff like skitter walks and she dogs.
Floating basket to keep all them Hardheads in
I'm sure you've got everything else for fishing

use your regular tackle. need something to hold your lures, a net for the fish, a stringer, some measuring device, and some stainless pliers. i wear chacos and do the stingray shuffle.

I go out there with my pole, floating basket, and some extra baits stuck in the foam. Only thing else you might need is an old pair of shoes. It's good idea to pull the fish up onto the top of the basket to remove the hook.

Stringers blow. Had a shark feed off mine one time and crabs will attack your fish too!
Get a cheap landing net from walmart and take the net hoop off and seal it inside the tube and then put it back. You will need a piece of 1/8" line about 8' to tie the net to you.
On your rod, tape off 12" and 16".
Floating basket much better then stringer.

I have, sometimes you loose bait in the waves. Also keep in mind that you have to haul everything to the surf. Kids have a wagon? Might want to bring it...

Never had the need to, but it sounds like it would be a pain in the arse while fighting the surf.

I do sometimes...just tie a string or heavy mono to the bucket and the other end to my belt loop.

I'm staying on the beach side so I'll probably just go in front of the camp early in the morning

Throw top dogs and double sparkle beetles. I had never not fished out of a boat, also until a couple of years ago. I really like surf fishing now. All the people fishing there are real friendly, too. Not like people out of boats usuallly.

Definitely some kind of shoes. I always used canvas but really anything to keep the crabs and hardhead spikes out of your feet is all you need.
Floating basket is better than a stringer. The metal mesh are better than the fiber net ones.
I would always use a straw hat to hook lures into.
