I'm just not sure how arsenal will take the ball off the bayern midfield. I predict luiz gustavo starts on the road just to establish a presence and then javi starts at the allianz.

Tweezy is being such a German right now. Bayern's midfield is better than nearly every team in Europe. If they come out as complacent Bayern, it'll be a tough fixture. If they come out aggressive, looking to score i.e. Lille game, they should win.

Yeah, no question you all are heavy favorites we've got a puncher's shot though. I think it will be closely contested but Bayern wins. Probably 5-3 on aggregate.

perhaps i do, but over two games barring any further injuries for fcb i just dont see this one being a nail biter. bayern has the tendency to come out complacent, but i think ribery is still a man possessed at this point, so the team should be alright

The man playing him is very familiar with his game. Hopefully, Sagna plays better than his current form against Bayern. If not Ribs will scorch him.

Baccy knows Ribery well. Should be a fun match up. Who's been playing on the right for you all? Hasn't Robben been hurt?

muller and shaqiri. yeah robben has played like 5 matches total, he's back now though. he shouldnt start imo. muller is really a highly efficient player, but he's far from a traditional winger, he loves slotting into the middle. if lahm didnt provide such amazing overlap and cover i dont think it would work nearly as well.

Atleast both stadiums are awesome and have great pitches. I'm still pissed at what AC Milan did in last year's round of 16.

Him going central could be interesting because Gibbs loves staying wide and going forward.

The new Walcott contract has gotten me thinking about why player pay isn't a bigger story in the soccer world. Everyone knows Drew Brees is now a 100 million dollar man because of his new contract. Everyone knew ARod signed with the Rangers for $250 million. But you really couldn't say what soccer players are making off the top of your head. Fernando Torres is known as the 50 million pound man, but that is based off of his transfer price. Also, on a related note, why is the pay referred to weekly wages?

Clubs don't normally announce set yearend salaries for their players. Players can make much more or less than their announced weekly wages. It depends on several performance based bonuses and incentives and match appearance fees. Say Player A makes £50k a week announced. That may get bumped to £55k if he starts and £56k if he scores. Most American sports contracts are announced as guaranteed salaries regardless of performance. There are obviously things like signing bonuses and other rewards, but they are outside of the normal wage a player garners.

Just wanted to pop in and throw out this OptaJoe stat, I know it seems (at least to me) that Theo flubs a lot of his chances.. but
quote:
31% - Theo Walcott has the best chance conversion rate of any player in the 2012-13 PL with more than 5 goals (excluding penalties). Signed.

He flubs a lot of the touches that lead to chances. But, his finishing is actually quite good.

not really that sorry if it's already been discussed. i havent noticed too many of you getting your hopes up on Zaha, so shouldnt be that big of news. but it raises the question: if not him, then who? eta: glass- this is random as frick, but did you end up getting the situation with your son's coach worked out?

Who the frick knows? It's been 22 days, this squad clearly needed reinforcement, and we seem no closer to signing anyone. Wenger's press conferences are generally full of shite and spin. I'm sure we were at least interested in Zaha. AW just comes off sounding spiteful in that quote and is probably lying.
