Yea. I had a one hander and off hand then upgraded to a decent staff and thought, what the hell; this is awesome.

I am about to swap out my nvidia 560 ti for my ati 5700, the screen freezing for up to 30 seconds is killing me and they haven't fixed the shite yet! The shite has cost me at least 20 silver so far.

The game told me to use the 304.79 beta driver because it was the only one that was stable on the NVIDIA cards.

Tuesday Sep 11th Kol Skullsmasher run. Any level welcome but probably need to be 35+ to survive unless you are ranged.

Time 7:00 CST

When you get comfortable with killing this guy it starts a chain of quests that will net you almost a level a run.

Tried the drivers but didn't work with my card even though it says it's for the series I own. I will mess with it later but thanks for the info.

That was unlucky.

Back at work..time to hit this thread up. I'm Jerizer

How did the ac run(s) go? looking forward to going there myself. What can a guardian do worthwhile, specifically, in a 5 man?

I have a frickton of defensive abilities and shouts

Your best bet is to make sure you have a melee weapon in one slot and a ranged in the other slot. Boss fights differ and some hit so hard you don't want to be in their face. Also if you are geared for melee your ranged dmg may be lacking, but as a guardian you have a ton of support skills and traits. For trash mobs you can keep a staff or scepter and do some dmg between res'ing and shielding your fellow players.

I know that's not always the funnest role to play in an instance, but the amount of shields, healing abilities, and resurrecting skills we have make us the best class for that role. The trait that shields you along with the one that buffs during and after resurrections is huge in these places due to the mass amount of deaths even for a good team.

When you have the opportunity to get in a mobs face and slam him with a sword/mace make sure to use your shouts to aid the team. You may be at full health (usually means the mob is raping someone else) but shielding and healing your comrades through your shouts will save their life.

Throw out stuns, blinds, and disorients as much as possible also.

But the 2 most important things for all classes in instances is focus fire, and keep dodging/moving. The focus fire is easily handled by having one person designated to mark the mobs with the in game mechanics. I can't remember the default mark and assist keys since i swapped mine to mouse 4 and 5, but this makes way easier.

Nice post. Thanks!

I played a paladin in wow..so..i definitely understand the value of a highly armored shielded healer. In fact I picked up the skill that spawns a spirit shield for us. And have the aoe cone heal

I'm used to just swinging a 2hander and leveling solo, so, I'll need to adjust some for 5man group play. but hey that's what ventrillo is for..right?

I hear ya. I swing a 2-hand sword 99% of time and only switch to the scepter and focus for instances and world bosses that hurt too bad. Even specced with toughness, vitality and healing traits their are just some mobs out there that you won't hold up to.

Being able to tank is also a huge benefit when you have a group full of squishy casters.

The class is very similar to a paladin with the exception that you have the option to switch weapons mid fight if things aren't going well. Just remember your group members might not understand these concepts and sometimes it's just up to you to keep everyone up. Perfect example is seeing a elementalist switch to frost due to it's great healing abilities. Not all but most are more worried about pumping out dmg with fire rather than switching to frost and playing support....

Does anyone know how I can increase my movement speed?
I'm a Norn Warrior and it seems I just plod along while people just whizz past. Is it just that I'm a big slow ox or a big dumb ox?

just a big slow ox. I don't know anything about warriors but the 2 classes I have played so far have both had some sort of ability (6/7/8 keys) that allowed for speed buffs. One of them is 10% constantly the other is a 20 second 33% increase. I know some classes have speed buffs (as they have been cast on me before). I think the idea behind speed buffs is that they should be minimal and last for limited amounts of time as they aren't used for traveling purposes as much as for defensive purposes. I think the ability of fast traveling via waypoints decreases the need for any speed enhancements we're used to in games (via horses and things like that). at least that's what I just made up in my mind typing this response, so it could be horribly, horribly, wrong.

If you use a horn in your off hand I think you can get a short term speed increase.
