Okay cool deal. I'm looking for something like wow just not as consuming and repetitive. Thanks a lot will be getting the game this weekend.

yeah bro.. i played wow for a long time and got burned out. way too time consuming and repetitive with raids.

GW2s solo leveling up experience is second to none, imo. WOW leveling got extremely boring but GW2 leveling is just way more fun... better quests, better environment, better combat mechanics, way more convenient.

Small things such as not having to return to a NPC to get your quest reward, or being able to deposit to your bank from anywhere in the world, and travel to various waypoints anywhere in the world anytime you want, make the experience that much more enjoyable

Also, if you want to do a 5 man dungeon, it is available.

Is the open world as big as wow? Whats the learning curve like can I download it and jump right in or is there a lot to learn?

I hit 80 today and I have completed 39% of the map.

There is no node stealing and you don't have to group with someone to share a kill and loot. It's remarkable how little bitching there is at other players in area chat. In fact, I'm not sure I recall any bitching in general chat.

What is the difference btwn story mode and explore mode?

Story is shorter and easier.
lot of cutscenes...get a story out of the dungeon

Explore mode is tougher...but gives tokens you can redeem for loot.

and explore modes have different paths.

So explore mode is kind of like heroic on wow? The more you guys tell me about the game the more I cant wait to play.

What about races is it preference or do different races offer different things?

Yeah id compare it to heroic. Lack of dedicated heals/tanks means everytime you run the dungeon it can be done differently...

Aside from the way they look and story... Not sure on difference in races.

Download complete, hopefully I can find my old UI and key binds file so I don't have to set everything up again.

---EDIT---

The game stores your setting info so if you reinstall all your keybinds and settings are still there.

Crafting it cool too, you have a collections tab that stores your raw crafting material, you can pull right from that tab when crafting.

Feel free to browse metacritic.com ... And notice it is the #1 PC game (at least it was last week edit: dishonored now #1)

So...its not just us who think its amazing...

And yeah the crafting is good. Part of me wishes they had rare drop recipes like Crusader in oldschool wow...but I think its just discovery and merchant/karma recipes.

so, I don't know if it's going to happen tonight or not, but I'd really like to get a dungeon run going if anyone is down. The holdup will be that the wife is off, but we're leaving tomorrow for a week long trip to Ireland and I desperately want to try out my new build in a dungeon setting, so I'm going to convince her I need one last romp in a dungeon before I have to break the addiction for a week... hopefully it works

I got all my armor + weapons upgraded and respec'd I'm now built for toughness in my spec (as opposed to before where it was just on my gear).

I'll be honest, I'm kind of worried about the new build...it's more tank style than it is dps. I don't have my traps anymore, but the traps were the reason I was getting myself arse raped early on in fights with lots of mobs. I'm now built to hit hard and get hit a lot softer and using Greatsword + longbow instead of axe/axe or axe/dagger + greatsword.

I'm thinking about trying out a pet tank heavy build for dungeons just to see how good it works. I have my healer up to ~550 +healing without the food buff at lvl 61.

This.
I have played games from the time when you bought the game and it was a book with the code and a "big floppy disk" you had to write the game on to run it.

I have read for years about MMO games and what you said is exactly why I never played one until GW2.

I like this game about as much as any RPG I have ever played, and that says a whole lot.
Sure, there are things that piss me me off about it, but that holds true for all games so it ain't nothing but a thang, I suppose.

Yeah, level requirements are "recomended" and if you are smart you will not go in below what they say... hell, even then you will be knocked naked, killed often and generally treated badly. But, with a good group of guild mates like we have here, you will do just fine....or not.

I'm all for that, close to 70 on warrior build, so I may be able to contribute more to the run than before...or not
