Maybe go with 8GB which is plenty and up it to at least 1600 MHZ

I wouldn't dip below 700W. I think most here will tell you the same. Better safe than sorry.

Also, you're getting a 6Gb/s motherboard and only a 3Gb/s HD?

ETA That HD also only has 16MB of cache. Sort of low. I made sure to get one with 64MB

I would also get at least a 23" monitor, I linked a deal for a samsung refurb for 125.00 a couple of days ago and it's great. The difference from my 19" was HUGE.

What motherboard would you recommend? I changed the HD to a Seagate 1.5 TB, and upped the power supply

Thanks for letting me know. I was seriously contemplating the monitor. I'll probably drop the one I have on the list for now, and look on craigslist/ebay (I almost live off of these sites) for a nice used one for less.

Do you think my eyes would hurt sitting right up close to my 42" vizio

That's a big jump from what you had

I went with an AMD CPU so don't ask me. I am an AMD fanboy. I did get an Asus MB though. I liked the features and software options it had mostly.

Ask someone like SG Geaux who just built one with an i5 or Greace who just upgraded and I think went with an i5 as well. See what they think of their boards

I like Asus motherboards the best and EVGA video cards.

If you get that case you better plan on adding front fans to it.

I would prefer THIS CASE for the money.

Has all the fans you need already.

Another excellent case for the money.

I know! PCpartpicker only had 1tb+ with the 64mb cache. I just told myself screw it and went with the 1.5tb since it was one of the cheaper ones and had good reviews

I am working on my system piece by piece, I still need to do the MOBO and SSD, but I am running games at max setting right now.

Is it a 6Gb/s for that cheap?

Get this deal

You get a better GPU, 8GB of DDR3 1600MHZ memory, an HDMI cable, and BF3. I grabbed it this week.

Your card is $125 plus $40-$50 for that memory you posted so this is really only like $20-$30 more for a better and newer card, better memory, plus BF3.

This is what I got thanks to stout, and it's worth it. Doubled my ram and upped my video card. I just need to sell a code to BF3 since I already own it...

I was dropping down from 12 to 8. I had a feeling 12 would be a little overkill, so I just went with 8 after you said it would be prefered.

Eh that's not the one I meant to pick... It was this:

G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($46.99 @ Newegg)
