Everyone has to say right now USCe is the team in the SEC. Too look at. LSU needs to get their stuff together. PM needs to find a way to get LSU back to The CWS more constant. There is no excuse

Have we ever won back to back and made it to the finals the 3rd year? If no, then go cocks. If so, then screw cocks

Unrealistic for every team except USC, because they've actually done it. So by your own definition, it's obviously not unrealistic.

alright its unrealistic for all teams but USC, and it will probably won't happen again for a while

Like make the postseason every year? Because we haven't don't that under Mainieri. Like host a regional every year? Hasn't happened either. Again, by your own definition, if we look at the state of LSU's program (a program that has accomplished more success in the past 25 years than any other team), then we aren't really meeting those expectations.

you are correct and your doing exactly what I said

quote:

Why shouldn't we judge LSU's program against the other teams in the SEC?

because what their success only matters to what happens to us in the post season. I'm saying we shouldn't pick out a certain team say lets be better then them and then see the state of our program. What I'm saying is we have our own expectations, our own goals and then try to meat them. Obviosuly we have to push to do better then other SEC teams but that is part of our own goals and only compares it to other teams in the fact that we are trying to finish better then others.

But think about this Arkansas was the 5th best team in the SEC this year, so if we were to compare Arkansas against all other teams in the SEC they didn't do so hot, but let say their goal was make it to omaha and have some success. Well this was a successful year.

I hope your seeing what I'm getting at. OF course we have to push to do better then other SEC teams, but its not a thing of lets try to do better then team X.

Just place each team in a vacuum and ignore all other considerations?

I didn't say this, your taking what I said to the extreme, I'm saying lets judge our success on how we meet realistic expectations. Top 4 in the SEC could be one of them, hosting regional could be one (which would mean we would have to do better then other SEC teams).

What I'm doing is saying ok LSU has had a couple of bad years I don't disagree with that, but this year LSU has improved drastically, so this teams future is looking up. I don't have to compare us to other teams to notice hey LSU is getting better.

LSU is 6-0 in the finals so no.

our best three year stretch was win it all in 96 win it all in 97 and loose our final two games against USC in 98, after starting 2-0 in omaha.

A very good one, who was infinitely more qualified when he was hired compared to Sanchez. But staying on topic...

So as fans we demand Omaha every year, or just ever other year? We are only a few years removed from a title. We can't win it all every single season. USC is atop the throne for now, it is ok, the stars have aligned for them. Wait, didn't we take a series from them on the east coast to win the SEC regular season? Didn't we have the first college baseball player drafted overall? Weren't we ONE game away from another trip to the CWS? Thinking objectively is something most tigerdroppers do not do.
Now to answer the OP, it feels the same as it did the day after we won our last title, blah. Who cares, baseball is kind of boring?

Well, considering I was talking about his qualifications and coaching experience when he was hired, you look like a moron.

Go look at what Holbrook accomplished in 14 years at UNC as both a hitting coach and recruiting coordinator before USC hired him. Then look at Sanchez's experience when hired full time.

So I may have an "Internet Mouth," but at least I'm not reading at a 2nd grade level like you. Nice try with your flame.

OMG!!! Didn't we win the baseball NC in 2009? If we start demanding that order be restored in baseball, I'm going to hurl.

Cycles of success come and go. I always want every LSU team to be competitive. If a team wins the conference, that's a GREAT season. Period. National Championships are gravy. They're hard to win.

I'm pretty thankful that LSU has had the amazing century it has had so far: two ncs in football, one in baseball, a mens final four appearance, a half dozen womens final four appearances, and continued track and field dominance.
