I can imagine that Microsoft, being new to hardware of this type, couldn't sniff Apple's margins with suppliers. That's why they didn't announce a price. That's gonna hurt.

Looks like the Ultra book pricing only applies to the version running Windows 8 Pro. The ARM version should be comparable to tablet pricing.

I actually think this thing looks pretty cool. But I already have an iPad and I really just don't need another tablet. It would have to have a pretty good price tag for me to buy one it is slick looking though

Yeah, it looks good. I'm not nuts about Metro but my only exposure to it has been on the Xbox version of that UI. It's a big play. Only time will tell.

The Air is the best ultra portable out there. The iPad is the best tablet out there. Apple iPad + Apple MacBook Air = Microsoft Surface ETA: I think I read somewhere that developing apps for Windows 8 desktop, tablet and Windows 8 phones are all going to be very similar going forward. You develop for one platform, you can tweak it to run on others as well. If this is in fact true, it could be a true game changer. Just imagine the number of developers that will potentially work on the Windows ecosystem.

I want now!!! A tablet with direct access and everything else I need. Work and play finally. Not just a consumption device, like the ipad.

Pages Numbers Keynote Evernote iMovie iPhoto Garage Band Diet Coda Snapseed GoToMeeting QuickOffice Pro Invoice2Go Photoshop Touch And if there is something you must have that's on your desktop, but it's not in the app store, you can use any number of remote desktop apps.

Ridiculous amount of immature haters in here on both sides of the fence. I've been on the Android band wagon for a couple years now and even this makes me want to play with Windows again. This looks fantastic. Even intrigues me to tinker with a windows phone if they eco-system them well.

Uhh What? (Im fairly sure Apple has released more OS's in the last decade than MSFT) BTW the Apple Fanboys in this thread Its just fricking hilarious the amount of insecurity these sheep have. Heaven forbid there be more competition in the market.
