He bowed out of the race in February or March at the latest. Very few primaries had been held at that point. It was the reporting on the VN war front by the likes of Cronkite that placed him into the trash heap.

Obama definitely is NOT going to lose NY. I've said this before, he would almost have to commit a homicide to not win 217 electoral votes right now. Cali, NY, MD, IL, and most of the NE and far west are sewn up tight as a drum for Obama, now and for the foreseeable future for other dems. I think NC is going to go back to the Republicans and Romney is picking up some of the other so called 'swing states' but he's still got quite an uphill battle in the electoral vote column. I think it will come down to Virginia and Colorado this time around. Looking at the latest polls Virginia is slightly but definitely leaning to Obama and Co. is too, I'm afraid.
