I like Rivers but I feel JJ and Vasquez are a good backcourt. If Lillard is there u pick him, trade JJ for a first rounder and pick a SF or a C. If Lillard isn't there, Terrence Ross or Zeller.
Edit: If Ross is picked trade Ariza for a pick and if you pick a Big like Zeller you have to amnesty Mek.

Because people who don't know frick-all about projecting players to the next round fall in love with names they know and just "production".
Production in college is certainly a massive plus, but you have to factor in how a player's game translates, how much better they'll get etc.
Factoring that in, I'm not a Sullinger fan.
I don't get the over masturbatory love for Rivers either. He's good, I'd take him. But he's not the greatest thing ever.

agree with this comment as well.
to me, rivers is a consolation prize for getting davis at #1 and no one better being on the board.

That may be true but I'm really not looking for Rivers to be the full time PG either or any SG for that matter.
This was one of the scouting reports I found on Waiters. It's just another opinion but thought I'd share.

For purely selfish reasons, I'd like to think that not everyone who likes Sullinger is a dumbass who only appreciates big names and "production." He's not can't miss or even a sure starter, but I see him as a competent low post scorer. A better rebounding but slightly less efficient Carl Landry.

, but anyways.. Chad Ford describes Waiters traits as; Passing, Penetrating and Ball handling. Just for counter argument that he can be a point
Positives:
*Scoring machine
*Powerful drivers, overpowers the competition
*Relentlessly attacks the rim
*Plays with confidence
*Very good ball handler
*Sneaky athlete
*Has some potential to play point guard
Negatives:
*Lacks a consistent jumper
*Undersized for his position

I'm not saying he can't, I just don't think he or Rivers would be the answer long term at PG.

Which we could certainly use. We'll get somewhere between good and elite defense from Davis and Ariza/Aminu, and between adequate to good defense from JJ and Gordon (Vasquez has a lot of potential there if he were to be our starter). In that case, I don't think it's the end of the world if we get a guy that is a poor defender in Sully so long as he can score. And it's not like a lot of teams have great scorers at both the 4 and 5 (LA is the only one that comes to mind), so we could just put Davis on the better scoring big, whether he is a PF or a C.

I believe he can be a Zach Randolph type of offensive player. Both are below the basket guys with excellent offensive skillsets.
