My policy went into effect in late April. Their inspector was out then (at least he put a doortag out). Have not heard anything. Am I in the clear? House is over 100 years old. I'm sure they could nitpick if they wanted.

I can't squeeze 5 year old houses past Occidental's underwriting.

If it has been since April you should be in the clear, but I am surprised they couldn't find something to cancel you for. They are hardcore with their inspection (any trees near the home, shrubs touching the home, mildew on exterior, cracks in driveway/sidewalk, any missing/rotted fascia or soffits, any peeling paint, roof not in great condition, clutter, debris, garage or shed not in great shape, etc).

You should be in good shape though since it has been that long. I have a feeling that certain inspectors are more thorough than others.

I'm with nationwide now because state farm dropped me after my reckless driving and it was the cheapest quote I could find. Plan on getting back with state farm in 3 months after the charge is expunged.

Anyone have any opinions on nationwide?

You must not be in Louisiana. Last I checked they weren't writing here. They are a solid company though.

Why would you go back to State Farm after they dropped you?

Usaa, because they're unbeatable.

ive had USAA auto insurance for about 10 years. Seeing these threads, i got an online quote yesterday from Progressive, and it was about $1800/year cheaper.. so im probably switching.

USAA has been great. I've had (what i thought was) a low rate and never any significant increases. They've been great in a couple of accidents my wife has had also.

I'll probably switch to Progressive this week, and reevaluate in 6 months when the home im building is ready, to bundle somewhere.

Progressive can bundle you with ASI. The discounts aren't as big, but their rates are generally cheaper overall.

That is a good amount, and you should definitely call them and talk to them about your rate. But I would pay a premium, to a certain extent obviously, for their customer service.

They were AM Best Rated. They pulled the rating because they dropped to a C- i believe.

I have State Farm for auto, renter's and my engagement ring insurance.

I'm pretty loyal to them because my parents' house was damaged pretty badly from Hurricane Rita and they were fantastic. They were timely in sending an adjuster and they didn't balk about paying for a rent home, whatever contractor my dad chose to use or anything.

I quoted Geico when I moved out of Louisiana just to be sure, but SF was only $50 more per six months, so it seemed worth the little bit extra for peace of mind.

Occidental came in at $3000

Didn't Occidental have a pretty sizable rate increase this year?

I am eligible for USAA but have nothing with them. Why...because my current company beat them.
