More than ever, hitting oppo is being taught at every level of baseball that use BBCore bats. Staying inside of the ball is a catch phrase you'll hear that refers to keeping your hands moving to the ball from the stance position. This creates a compact swing with the hands fully inside of the pitch line, resulting in opposite field hitting.

When HSs changed last season, my kid was in 8th grade. He played JV/Varsity ball at a 3A school. He learned it in a few weeks of drills/cage work. It's not rocket science, our players should be able to execute more consistently and one a broader scale through the lineup.

mainieri doesn't need to fire javi. All he needs to do is hire me to stand behind him and slap him in the back of the head everytime he calls for the hit and run with a team that can't hit or run. Stony brook knows how to execute a hit and run. Stony brook team can bunt. Stony brook definitely can hit with 2 strikes. Stony brook wasn't swinging at pitches in the sky. Stony brook can hit off speed pitches in any count. I can't lie Stony Brook was great all around.

Exactly! I know it is being taught just not at LSU. One of the main reason they hit into so many DP's this year because they try and pull everything.

We couldn't beat out a throw from LF either. Fields could run but that's it and most of the time he was busy striking out.

I swear, I would take a year off (and I make good $$) of work to coach hitting with no pay, no glory, no nothing of any kind and would donate 100k if I couldn't improve our hitting if I had the chance. And I'm not a superstar baseball coach, Javi is that incompetent.
I need to go over to the OT to see some boobies to calm down, be back in a minute.

Dude, you better calm down. I have seen some mean windmills from Javi and I wouldn't want him to unleash on you.

It's those fricking aluminum bats IMO...I blame Jack Marucci for our hitting woes.

Is it true that Javi is Mainieri's godson or son-in-law or is somehow related? I remember that was the word on the Rant after last season.

Ask his JV coach to send his resume to PM. Sounds like he would be an upgrade to our current batting coach.

I agree with PM.This hitting coach excuse is getting old and overrated! You can bet the players are not blaming their poor hitting on the coach. They are examining their own flaws.

I doubt 99% of you whiners advanced past tee ball. How many of you guys that played HS baseball had a hitting coach?
Also remember, these Tiger players have grown up playing on select teams and in summer leagues such as the Cape Cod league. They have had plenty of coaching.
Now that high schools are using the same restricted bat,it will be much easier to evaluate hitters.

So we have a much more concerning evaluation and recruiting problem then?

Because we can either blame the talent, we can blame the coaching or we can put our fingers in our ears, yell "La la la la la" and pretend that everything is fine and dandy.

Your son isn't trying to hit a 90mph fastball or good curve at the 3A level in Louisiana.
