RSJ won't be on scholarship so does it really matter?

We might be...and it would be quality depth for one year...at a position we are not needing...it is a paradox, depending on who else is on the tether.........for signing.....hopefully it will be AT LEAST ONE BIG GUY...we need bulk and defense...badly...I really don't think the loss of Ralston Turner is a big deal though, he was inconsistent and played "moodily"! He lost his way and I'm glad he will not be allowed to create a malignancy. For him to still be in touch with that former Bama HC, tells you he was never really dedicated to his role at LSU...JJ won't say it, but he's probably thinking, "No problem!!"

PS..I am a bit disappointed at the loss of Shawn Forrest, he had mojo in the AAU's of Dallas......but integrity is a major deal and he could have been an "LSU MBB Integrity Problem," down the road. I don't like the disruption and I don't like that JJ coached with this guy...not knowing he has a propensity to misrepresent facts?
The lights will be cast upon JJ, you can book it...its not like he was NOT ON STAFF WHEN LSU SUFFERED THIS LONG TERM NCAA PENALTY...still haunting us.

Jones has said he would like to sign another post player and a combo guard for 2012, if possible. He also said that he would like for at least one of them to be a post-graduate player with just one year of eligibility.

I would be surprised if Jones did not at least look into Carmouche, but my guess is that Carmouche is looking for playing time and would likely transfer down a level to a Sun Belt type school. (Just my opinion).

Corban Collins was on LSU's campus this past weekend for an official visit. LSU will likely not make any guard decisions until he makes a commitment. Carmouche could become a backup plan.

Part of it is probably playing time. Memphis is pretty stacked at SG, even moreso if the knucklehead Johnson from JUCO qualifies. But he also had some attitude/discipline issues last year that kept him off the court. He briefly lost eligibility over a massage he refused to pay for at the hotel the team stayed at in Maui. He came back for a few games, had a very minor knee injury that healed sufficently, then basically refused to play again. I think his and Pastner's relationship simply ran its course.

Also, I think calling him a combo guard is very kind. He's a spot-up shooter, period (though a pretty good one).

Former UNO player, transferred to Memphis. Has graduated and will be eligible immediately. Shooting guard and more of a spot up shooter. It would be a no risk signee, since he would be taking up an unused scholarship for just one season, opening it back up next season.

Could be a benefit if Hammink or someone else is determined to need a redshirt year. (hypothetical)

Yes. A wierd situation to say the least. However, with Johnny saying he wants to sign two more people, including one with some size, that has to point to Odoh -- unless there is a graduate transfer out there that we are unaware of.
