went tonight. Got there at 7:30, sat probably at 8ish. Service was pretty awful, but it seemed as though they were understaffed. Sat outside and the weather was outstanding, but there were too many damn smokers.
We got the shrimp and grits and cheese fries as appetizers. The shrimp and grits were pretty good, but the cheese fries were burnt and very meh.
I got the turkey and avocado sandwich, sig other got pulled pork tacos, friends got spinach salad and mahi mahi sandwich. I got the mac and cheese as a side and that stuff could be used as paste.
The atmosphere is fun and the patio is clutch, minus the damn smokers (why do they have to ruin everything great about eating outside?)

this is surprising on a friday night when i have seen 12 wait people tripping over each other or leaning against the bar wall on a saturday afternoon with maybe 3 tables occupied in the place ... he must have cut some of that staff loose ..
i like the bar area a lot .. you are right about the patio .. it is gonna be really clutch once we get into the fall and winter ... i'd have to give everything i have eaten there a pretty big "meh" .. but the beer's cold and they have some pretty cute bartenders ..

From what i gather and have been told, Portico's is mainly for drinking and the food is an afterthought and should not be judged on it's quality and whether it's tasty.

Yeah, it's a cool place and it's just plain stupid to allow nasty arse smokers to smoke, even on the fricking patio.

My take, great lay out, great place to grab some drinks and good higher end bar food.
It's not a culinary landmark, and it is not what they are trying to do.

Sittin at the bar, just finished my meal. Good space, decent atmosphere, but they don't try very hard on their food. They try just hard enough.
I would definitely drink here again...cool open air bar/patio area. I'd eat here again, but it'd have to be cuz the wait was too long at The Chimes or something.

...this is why they allow it. There are places that don't allow smoking on the patio, but it's because they are just restaurants. I don't smoke, nor do I hang around many smokers.. but people aren't going to hang out and drink at a place where the only way to smoke is to leave and go to the parking lot :/

I am a degenerate, but it wasn't me...Lots of fine current & former Dempsey's chicks with Kendra being near the top of that list. I didn't know she worked there. I now think the food at Portico's is delicious.
