Location is iffy.... But Chimes kills it within a mile.

They did a great job with decor..... Setup is interesting tho.

We went for lunch last week - I had the Pressman with BBQ on the side. Roast beef, ham, tomato, pepperjack, pork.... Pressed and Served with side of brown gravy. Cheese grits as a side (scoop of grits topped with shredded cheese). Grits were better without the shred. Thought it was good. Would order again....not crazy about sweet bbq tho.

Wife went wild and crazy..... Had a turkey avocado sandwich on a kaiser roll. She liked. Hard ti screw that up.

I will go back. Will be a good lunch and cocktail spot. Menu is huge tho. That scares me sometimes. Seems to do really well in Monroe and Ruston. Would probably kill it by LSU......

what does hurt them is that intersection being re-worked a few years back .. you can't go left on coursey out of the location without going to the light and making a u-turn .. also, it can't be accessed east bound on coursey either ... a high percentage of times, stopping somewhere to eat is a "look ! pull in there, let's eat there" impulse .. so their odds are cut way down in that respect ...

as far as the chimes is concerned, we said the same thing about the chimes vs. walk on's and the chimes vs. the londoner when they first got here and the chimes hasn't hurt neither ... the chimes is still printing money, but the clientele has changed in there drastically .. i think a lot of people that live on this side of town have figured out that the chimes is really not a whole lot better than anything else we have around here .. it just has that throwback to our college days nostalgia going for it .. so the other places around here are being patronized ..

Go chill at the bar and watch a game when you get a chance on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, boss .. you'll like it .. i also noticed that during happy hour thursday, there was some really nice after work talent at the bar too ..

Will do. Inside has a cool feel to it, no doubt. Talent is always an added bonus to a cold pop.

I would qualify this place as more of a restrnt than bar.....but I didnt notice a golden tee.

The bar is island-ish n the middle-ish of the restrnt.......lol

Masons setup is a little better for a golden tee'r

I'm not a fan of Mason's and hardly ever go there...I will say this though, Mason's happy hour is awesome for cheap drinking...Now that they've cleared off all the woods around Mason's for the hospital, there's no place to take a piss. Mason's men's room is disgusting most of the time.

I've never eaten there (Mason's) because every time I have gone in and tried it "feels" dirty to me and I turn around and leave. Makes my skin crawl.

Food was ok. Nothing special. I asked for grilled shrimp on my salad but got small, cold boiled shrimp. The spinach was also a bit soggy from them tossing it in the dressing too early. I'd go back and try something else. Burger tasted better. The two patty thing is interesting. Guess they don't want to deal with cooking them to order? Patio is great. Would definitely go there to watch a game. Good drink selection.

The Monroe location makes a killing. When it was first built it was the only building on one side of the street for a half mile stretch. The parking lot would be full so ppl would just park in the dirt. I don't typically go for the food, but Wednesday's and Friday's plate lunches are hard to beat. Their chicken-n-dumplings are fantastic. The chicken kabobs are pretty damn good too.

just think of the dark lighting as romantic atmosphere..
Order the shrimp burger, onion fries and a Coors Light.
I've never noticed the dirt..

shite. I was in there a month ago and group of at 8 or more milfs came strolling out on the patio. One of em was a senior cheerleader when I was in jr. high. I used to drool over her, but I didn't have the balls to approach her that night.

I tried the Mahi sandwich on Saturday. I thought it was way overseasoned. Pretty mediocre dish overall.

Anybody try the shrimp and grits? I want to go back for that. I went a few weeks back and was unimpressed to the point where I don't even recall what I got.

But I do remember thinking I'd give it another try for the shrimp and grits. Wondering if anybody has anything to report on this ...
