not bad eating if you clean them and fry them quick. I have also been told the meat holds up better if you soak it in vinegar after cleaning.

I have a hard time getting excited about a fish or mammal that I cant just clean and freeze. If I have to do something special to it then Im just not that hungry.......yet

When I was a kid, my grandfather once fed my big, yellow, veiney, fried, battered in cornmeal choupique eggs.

Only thing they're good for is bait. I shot every last one I catch.

I know some people were selling them for $6-10 apiece. hard to find/catch around the bay area. the young generation has no clue about them, but they make some awesome patties.

I could have paid for gas in my truck and boat with what I caught yesterday. Think I found a new business venture.

I have a friend from that area who actually wants to RAISE those funky things in some fallow crawfish ponds on his land. I told him he needs to plant rice and lease duck blinds instead of raising choupique.

We used to put them in a gunny sack and give them to the colored folks who lived next to my uncle's duck camp.
