I have a buddy coming in who has never been to BR before.
Wants to eat food exclusive to S. La, no particular type.
We are going to dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.
I'd like to stay close to the LSU area as much as possible.
I was thinking maybe Mike Anderson's tonight, and Sammy's for lunch tomorrow. Is there some more options I'm missing?
What are one or two good reccomendations?

If Mike Anderson's is the type of food you're looking for I'd go Louisiana Lagniappe.

Keep in mind that LSU's graduation is today.

If Mike Anderson's is the type of food you're looking for I'd go to Parrains.

So do you want to keep it casual or upscale?

I've never been there before, what's good there?
I'll probably check it out, if it's a good distance away from here.
I hope the graduation crowd doesn't get that far.

I almost said that, but I thought I'd go up just a notch from both of those. I like Parrains too, but they'll be packed as well for graduation.

I'd probably prefer to do something pretty casual. If graduation is tonight, I'm open to go further distances for dinner tonight.

That's tough. I'd honestly consider Chimes East to get away from campus area. Happy hour gulf oysters .35cent(had some last week and they were good), boudin balls, blackened gator, Sauteed/fried crab claws etc. Good beer selection and just pass apps.
I don't care if it gets hate on here or not they have solid apps and great draft selection and happy hour oysters daily. I just get in and out before 8 and sit in bar or patio area.

Also, maybe mason's grill

On par with Ralph & Kacoo's.

Bring a fire extinguisher with you. Parrain's is head and shoulders above Mike Anderson's which has always been way over-rated.

Chimes East is a pretty good idea, he will be staying on oneal ln, so it's not too far from where he will be at.

I've heard of this place before, what type of stuff do they sell?

Though my mom eats there all the time, I've only been to Parrains one or two times though and don't remember too much beside it being a good meal. I probably should check it out again sometime.
I was solely thinking of Mike Anderson's because of the broiled seafood platter, which come to think of it is the only thing I've have from there.
I'd imagine they'll be packed though.

Louisiana Lagniappe
IMO best restaurant in BR, great steaks and good, fresh seafood.
App: Charbroiled oysters/marinaded crab fingers
main: Filet/Ribeye Louisianne, not on the menu but consistanly my favorite dish in BR
Dessert: Cheesecake bistro-Buttered Pecan
After typing that I may grab the wife and go tonight
