I wish! I don't think I do, at least, it wasn't the focal point in any of them (the best I can tell, without scanning them) -- it could have been in a background shot, though. Rick from WAFB has the slides right now to see if there's something he can use for his piece and then he's going to return them to me. Melissa at the library says she thinks she may be able to clean off the mold on some of the slides, too.

It was such a beautiful mural -- I wonder if something was written up on it when it was first displayed at the B...our pal Melissa would be the one to ask. I can get to the Advocate's archives at any of the EBRP libraries but she has this awesome master card catalog, yes, still on cards, that has other sources she has in her vast storehouse of a back office. Could be a reference card on Billy Cannon that would direct you to a magazine from back in the day talking about the mural or the artist.

I guess she is the lady to talk to. I really want to find out who had painted it and when.

Great pictures, man! Must have been surreal to walk through it like that.

Please tell me somebody saved that beautiful chandelier

Also, how come nobody took all that booze once they closed? what a waste

my step-father was the General Manager there from '59 - to '79-'80. I was telling him about this thread and he said he actually has a photo of him standing in front of the mural with Billy Cannon and Charlie McClendon. It makes him so sad to see the Bellemont in such a sad state.
