I own several models from a few companies. My best and worst are both Rubbermaid. Apparently, it matters what series you buy. The Rubbermaid with wheels and the double top doors keeps ice for as long as anything I've seen other than the Yeti types.

my fishing lid has the one that has the top opening we can throw the fish in but i warn you now, that top lid is not rain proof of water getting in your ice chest. So for a day's fishing and throwing fish in there... its great but i'll check on it when its storing in the boat and always has water in it.

Dry ice works really good for several days.

I would go with the max cold. Out of all of the ones that one probably held up the longest for me, and hold ice pretty decent.

My igloo hinges last about a year.

Plus, you can buy replacement hinges for practically nothing (stailess steel hinges cost a bit more). LINK

Explain this. My igloo hinges last about a year.

I take some rubber layflat pump discharge hose such as this

Take off the factory hinge, trace out the outline on the piece of pump hose, cut it out, then put the hinge back on the ice chest with the piece of rubber hose sandwiched between the ice chest and the factory hinge. Usually just use one layer of the hose, but could double up if you wish, may need to use some longer screws though.

I do this as soon as I bring a new ice chest home and I have never had a problem!

Let me know if you still dont understand and i'll post a pic when I get home tonight.

My problem is that the screws strip out and then I'm shooting epoxy into the holes. PITA. I'm getting a fricking Yeti to be done with it.

Yes, that double top Rubbermaid is great, but the lids suck at closing. Otherwise, I love the icechest

I have a Maxcold with wheels, I would buy another. The hinges don't break like my coleman did. The screw holes are all stripped out on the coleman and can't repair anymore.
