All that I have heard so far is that they intend to release additional cinematic sequences to further explain the ending...not playable content. At least not for the character of Shepherd.

We provided tons of answers and explanations and as I recall you conveniently ducked out of the thread.

ending didn't live up to expectations.
you can call it whatever you want, but it seems as if the majority of people who have stated an opinion on it haven't been impressed.
Statements that the developers made about where the story was going and what was to be expected by the ending appear to be outright lies.
I'm fairly indifferent at this point about where things go with the additional ending dlc, but this is how I'm viewing things at the moment.
Only defense that ending defenders seem to have is that detractors just don't "get it". They offer no further explanation. If they are so wise and understand Bioware's artistic vision, I'd like a little elaboration on why the ending is so great.

Nope, just a lot of fanboy rage as I recall.

Then I implore you to expound on the personal reasons why you think the ending was satisfactory.

so, what is your opinion again?
You know, since we are all so busy foaming at the mouth to form a coherent sentence and all...

Briefly, the ending nullifies any sense of choice or consequence. Rachni don't matter, war assets as a whole don't matter, love interests don't matter, the genophage doesn't matter. Shall I go on? Then they blatantly rip off Deus Ex and the only difference between the endings boils down to color changes.
Not to mention the endings make no logical sense and leave a ton of questions unanswered. What part of that was "fanboy rage?"
We can go more in depth if you want.

I would have to agree that the ending (if it is in fact a what you see is what you get ending) was disappointing...well very disappointing. If they do still have an ace up their sleeve and the indoctrination ending was the intended way out all along, it would be most epic.

If that's the case then they basically released a game without an ending which would hit a new level of incompetence and/or greed.
Also the IT was basically created by the fans to make sense of what Bioware delivered. You really think that they planned it all along? Why not just release the game with the actual ending?
And it seems Tactical1 has ducked out again.

Possibly. Unless they intended it to go down this way all along. Basically, at this point IT is the ONLY way out of a shitty ending.

Perhaps. I am still skeptical about the release date of this extremely well done video which makes a VERY convincing case for IT. Could fans have created that only a week or so after the games release? Maybe...

I really hope they did, but just don't know. As I said, IT is the only way out of an otherwise shitty ending. It would be amazing if Bioware actually planned all of this.

You must admit, it would be pretty f'n cool if they planned to do what is, as of now, only a conspiracy theory to explain away a disappointing ending to one of the greatest video games ever made.
Maybe I am just paranoid and unwilling to accept the literal ending.

My take on it was, everyone running to the beam on Hammer team was killed (like Major Coats says). And Shepards final dying thoughts are of him and Anderson succeeding. And of Joker, his love interest, and the person you take on the final push, all landing safely somewhere. (Although the two with joker were both with me on the final push, and therefore would have been killed as well).
Essentially, you fail. The Reapers succeed. Humanity and the rest of the galaxy are harvested and the cycle continues. It's a necessity that the cycle continue to prevent ALL organic life from being destroyed.

Actually, this is just a giant plot hole.

The ending made absolutely zero sense.
The mass relays explode no matter what you do.
When the mass relays explode, billions and billions of people(and aliens) die. Everyone that lived fighting the Reapers are stuck in Sol-which cannot sustain that much life-if they somehow miraculously survive the gigantic destruction that a mass relay explosion causes.
No matter what you do...it does not matter. The best thing you can hope for is that Liara, Joker, and EDI miraculously survive even through a mass relay before it explodes (even though they would never abandon Shepard so this makes no sense...) and Shepard's body takes a gasp of air

I think Tactical1 works at EA or something.
