The extent of experience with double stars is not much, I shot one at a range one time, seemed decent. I think they are pretty reasonable price wise and would probably pick them over Rock Island, but not SA or Colt.
I own a Volkmann, and it's true Luke Volkmann use to work for Brown. Luke is a young guy and builds a nice gun, my main gripe is his tremendous wait time and price. I think I waited almost 2 yrs for mine. It's a nice gun but for what I paid and the length of time I waited I could have bought two browns or better yet bought two colts and had my boy Ed Vanden Berg in houston build them to my exact specs.
