I think there are some budget concerns in the space program right now, though, pulling out of the recession.

Im sure the acceleration would be slow and steady but would eventually reach incredible speeds. That being one reason people would be able to survive the trip. Its not Like they go from 0 to a 39 day trip speed in a few seconds. That would turn our boys and girls in the ship into pancakes. 
Kind of the premise behind some of our outer solar system aimed satellite propulsions. Some have the force of a piece of paper weighing on your hand. May seem like nothing, but in space that continually and slowing speeds up the satellite since theres no friction. Can reach some very high speeds.

We first need to go back to the Moon and establish a colony before we even think of going to Mars. There's just so much more that could frick up. We frick up on the Moon, there's still a decent chance of survival since we're only a few days away from recovering them. Same can't be said for Mars. Orbiting Mars or landing of Phoebes or Demos are one thing, but landing on Mars is completely different.

Im in...id go if my massive girth and spinal injury werent an issue...i'd suck some serious O2 from the e&e systems, even though mt VO2 max is in the 60s
