I don't think it's Algiers. I think it's supposed to be that area uptown of of the Crescent City Connection, on the eastbank, where they had tossed around the idea of putting the stadium. I had never heard of Algiers as a proposal.

i vaguely remember algiers being tossed around as a possibility among others.

NOLA has 56% humidity right now, Kingston has 74%.

But I'm sure that's an anomaly.

I love where the Dome is located now, it would be a cluster frick if it was on the west bank or uptown.

we have over 250 million recently invested in the dome, the arena and champions square revitalization and the whole nine yards. This is a dead topic for next 20 years minimum.

Wasn't that the proposed replacement for the Dome before Katrina? I think Benson was threatening to leave and stuff? Then Katrina hit and he was all about " I LOVE NEW ORLEANS I'LL NEVER LEAVE, IT JUST TOOK A HURRICANE TO TELL ME THAT! " ?

It was more like Katrina hit and we receive over 100 million dollars in superdome renovations that we otherwise would not have been able to afford to renovate the superdome which was long over due.

Perhaps. Still, Benson is a bit of a clown.

I guess it's just that cool Caribbean breeze that makes it bearable

FIFY.

NFL Stadiums haven't evolved much in the past 10 years. Tampa, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Denver, Chicago all remain "state of the art". The Superdome is going to be fine - it has the skeleton to evolve with any new "trends" in stadium design that take place over the next 4 or 5 decades, but at this rate that won't be many changes to adapt to. The 49ers stadium that just had groundbreaking in Santa Clara has literally nothing that the Superdome doesn't have. That stadium will be around for at least 40 years, which means the Superdome will as well.

We have the prime seating options, we have the suite options, we have room to upgrade our video screens if needed... the Superdome has everything that Tampa, Denver, Chicago, Green Bay stadiums all have.

If you think about it - the fact that Atlanta (cheaped out) and saved $80 million while building the GA Dome by not having enough room for suites has come back to cost them about a billion dollars in the long run. They have to build a brand new stadium now and the GA Dome will rot away and become an eyesore like the Astrodome in Houston.

What a horrible decision. Another reason that Dave Dixon and the other men behind the Superdome were geniuses. They did not cheap out on anything and that has saved the state and its taxpayers at least $500 million (probably more).

I want the Superdome to always be home to the Saints, just like GB has such a strong association with Lambeau Field. The Dome is already iconic and , in my opinion, is only growing its legacy with the Saints post-Katrina success in addition to its record of most Super Bowls hosted.

I used to think that.

But he's more than made up for his past transgressions.
What he's done for our city can't be overstated.

There's a reason a dome replaced Tulane Stadium as the Saints home.

One of the main proposals put the stadium at the very end of the convention center from where the new Mardi GRAS world is to around where twi ropa used to be and beyond.

I remember thinking that, if it was built, it should be named Crescent Field.

This proposal was supposed to be near the Warehouse District close to where the Wal-Mart on Tchoupitoulas is. Kind of where the Convention Center ends. Theres' lots of abandoned warehouses there and Twiropa is in the footprint of where the stadium was to be.

It's not a bad location for a stadium but the Superdome is far superior.

ETA - just read the post ahead of mine

Open air stadium - NO THANKS!

Guys, everyone chill out. I in no way said I would like to move out of the dome. I simply was on a graveyard shift and was really bored and came upon pics of a proposed stadium and thought they were interesting. In a tired state I stupidly expressed my emotions and I apologize to all of the WHO DAT nation, the Mercedes Benz Superdome, and the Saints organization.
