They either turn into teaching professions or the kids go into a field completely unrelated to their majors. In most fresh out of college jobs they teach you everything from scratch so it doesn't matter. Take audit for example. Technically it is an accounting/finance field but they take people from every major.

Key is you have to be lucky enough to get hired in the first place. That's the hard part with most of these majors. Fine arts majors don't get many interview calls from corporate America.

I wonder why. I certainly wouldn't want to hire someone for an accounting job that just wasted 100,000 dollars of their parent's hard earned money.

I've never met a financial auditor without an accounting/finance degree

I can't say I agree with this.

Certainly not true for financial/external audit. Pretty much if you aren't an accounting major who can prove they are CPA ready you aren't going to get hired.

For internal audit if you aren't an accounting, finance or information systems major you aren't going to get hired. Even when internal audit was at its peak from 2002-2008 very few outside those three majors were going to get picked up for internships or FT jobs even if they did the LSU CIA program.
