re: EPA says no fracking rules until 2015

Whatever.

I call total BS on any MAJORS in the GOM having "way worse HSE policies, procedures and records than BP".

Why does a Brazillian oil company need a loan from the U.S. government for oil drilling when there are American oil companies that are Obama attacks for making record profits and gives speeches that they aren't taxed enough?

Haliburton could provide the same services for U.S. companies for the same in the GOM which would give a lot more Americans jobs. Why did he do this?

Take off your hack glasses and question Obama for once instead of attacking me for questioning him.

Sooo... now you want to limit it to majors? I guess smaller companies = smaller spills. You do realize that MMS had to cancel the 2010 SAFE awards because BP was a finalist, right? LINK . And they'd already given the DWH a safety award... LINK Nobody has a better dataset on GOM safety the they do. So unless you can bring data or specific poliices showing that BP does something significantly worse than their peers in terms of risk mitigation... I'll just assume your BS call is, just that.

First, read more. Obama didn't give the loan, the imp-exp bank did. It's board decided.

Secondly, you continue to show your ignorance. Most of the service company jobs overseas are manned by Americans. Also by giving the loan the bank generated international biz for Halliburton, transocean et al. More money for these companies, more jobs for Americans and possibly better returns for investors in those service companies.

Damn, Obama (not really) put more money in halliburton's pocket! Damn commie!

What do you mean "now"? My original response asked whether or not you were referring to majors.

Of COURSE the independents are going to have shittier HSE policies...they're fricking cowboys for christ's sake.

Name the top 3 biggest spills in US history. How many were by non-majors?

Jes sayin, bruh.

EVERY other MAJOR in the GOM (and the US, for that matter) takes HSE more seriously than those limey fricks at BP. And their records prove it.

For the earlier post about the moratorium doing nothing LINK
LINK

And for Penguin

Have you ever been offshore much less on any of BPs facilities? Well I have and numerous times, they are just as strict as any major in the gulf. Like I have stated many times before on here. The drilling techniques that were used on that well were not out of the norm. Yes BP shares blame but so does the event being a freak of nature as well as the drilling crew that was on shift as well as many other variables. Dont let the media work you into a frenzy so that your thinking becomes clouded.

I'm offshore half of my life, bruh.

Freak of nature? Bull shite. They could have mitigated the risk (which wasn't uncommon...especially in DW wells into virgin reservoirs) with their casing design...they chose not to. Typical BP...going after elephants with 50mm with no regard for the collateral impact.

BTW...drilling & production are different animals in every company, so you landing on Thunderhorse to fricking "consult" (or whatever the frick you do) doesn't mean you know how they make risk-mitigation decisions in their drilling dept.

True dat. Transocean SHOULD be held accoutable by BP.

But they won't be...at least not significantly. BP needs them.

Okay so we are both on the same page as far as knowing what we are talking about. Yea BP should have done more to mitigate the possibility but you have to agree that the amount of things that had to take place for this event to happen were extensive, hence me labeling it a freak accident.
