I assume the soap stays on the hook for a long time and doesn't crumble or break easily?

yeah, Ivory is relatively soft...you can cut it into cubes with a knife and it doesn't crumble much...

FWIW, in a survival situation you can actually eat ivory soap...would make your breath smell nice, too...

The idea of lastweeks thread was that it ONLY caught catfish. Not that it was some super bait that all catfish would swarm.
