I'd rather focus on player development and recruitment than worrying about name change.

So, you want Benson getting directly involved in player development and scouting? That worked out well with the Shinns. Or maybe he could hire a firm with his own money that has absolutely nothing to do with the day-to-day operations....

Like the New Orleans Generals--like the old Wash Generals.

Privateers would be a better choice than Bucs simply because of no market confusion (don't bring up UNO )

Still not on board on that.

Honestly, I don't care that much. They could name us the New Orleans Wrong End of Bourbon Street Butt Burglars.

And not two fricks would be given by me as long as they stay in town.

If I'm Tom Benson I change the Hornets name to the basketball Saints since they're in the same family with same colors and different logo.
Hmmm...

New Orleans Basketball Saints

Shinn ran a mom and pop organization. That was one of his many problems. I didn't say I want Benson to recruit and develop. I'm saying(and listen to me so I don't have to repeat)that re-branding should not be the first order of business here.

Many people love the hornets, its going to be a name that people like, but few hate; not one that a lot like and a lot hate. At least I hope they go about it that way.

That's easy for you to say, you're not 85 years old. Buying the Hornets made financial sense, but what Benson has said and how he has said it makes me think his legacy is his first priority.

Benson saying "we need your help" in his presser, makes me wonder if they'll do some sort of voting process from the Louisiana public..

Not sure how they'd do such a thing, but it was an idea that popped into my head when he said that.

The New Orleans Spice sounds like some sort of stripping crew.

im trying to thnk what team they did this for, but i think it was either the Zephyrs or the Brass or maybe even the TWolves when they were rumored to be coming here in the 90s.

i forgot how they went about it to poll the people though. I was just a kid.

They should do a vote. Pick 5 names to vote from, but not a simple 'which one of the 5 do you like best' poll. For each one you can either like it or dislike it. Whichever one has the greatest ratio of likes to dislikes is your winner.

Had this happened earlier, ballots at homes games would've been the way to do it.
