I actually do not. I have thought about it, though, primarily for my family. I have a gun in the house in case of an intruder.

I don't think we are there yet. I also think that there are better solutions when society is dealing with crime effectively. But, the more that people lack restraint, the more it has to be imposed on them. Just wondering when people will quit trusting the police to protect them.

55 years and I haven't needed a gun. But I'm not a scared, fearful member of the belch and buckshot crowd, either.

I DARE you to put a sign up in your front yard that says 'There are no guns in this house.' That would be a perfect way to show everyone that you are not part of the 'belch and buckshot crowd.'

Will you put up the sign?

Its different as of.recent for sure. Just last week my wife took.my kids and her sister to the park here for "movie under the stars" while I was working graveyards. We havebeen there several.times. this time while she was unpacking the car two guys pulled up.behind them.and told her "you supposed to be here whitey?"...it caught her as a surprise for sure. Maybe there was some.fest going.on we didn't know.about cause there were.hardly any white people.there until.the movie was about to.start. then.slowly the black.crowds left and the white crowd moved in. She thought about leaving then told em.to piss off. Not going to be intimidated.

i have plenty dogs and guns but no cameras or alarm system. I am seriously thinking about getting cameras though. What are some good, inexpensive ones to get? Are they hard to set-up?

As some have said you can get Wifi cams to add to your network, but I have no experience with them. The cameras and DVRs I use in my home and business are hardwired, meaning you have to run cable to each camera. We have the systems set up for remote Web viewing, doing that is like setting up "go to my PC" or similar applications, and is pretty simple. There are some good deals for complete systems at Tigerdirect.com I am pretty deep into this stuff because of problems at our business, we currently use cameras made by CNB they have excellent infrared night vision, but run about $200 each. The business has been hit 6-7 times in the last 6 months, for some reason the "suspects" in the camera footage are always wearing hoodies, am I stereotyping?

Crime rates are at a 30 to 40 year low. I think one should always be alert to what going on in their neighborhood etc. but this "fully armed citizenry" is bat shite crazy. Get out of the house, get off paranoid political message boards, get some fresh air and take you meds.

With the calls for "Kill Whitey" from the New Black Panthers, the attack of the tourist by mob in Baltimore, increasing unrest, and the explosion of fear, how close are we to seeing people arm themselves, have permits that give them the right to carry concealed weapons, etc? People know the police cannot protect them. As calls for violence increase, how many people will just start carrying so they have recourse if attacked?

I am not saying that is the answer nor do I advocate it. I just think that this round of violence might be different from the past. The illusion that society is stable or that we can be protected is crumbling. Will people try to take matters into their own hands under the law?

If citizens are armed, that will change the equation with mobs and attacks. But, our society will be fundamentally changed as we enter a new era of decreasing civility and fear. How close are we to this? What would spark it?

I'm going to suggest that the level of hysteria across the general population is much less than it is on this board.

For those of you who are armed to the teeth and have a CC permit, how many times in your life has it been necessary?

Once... caught a drug addict trying to break into my home that was armed, glad I had the .40 on my person

What has the overall gun ownership rate done during that same time?
